Since opening in July 2008 we took over a well-established car sales site without a working workshop. We have improved our site to include MOT class 4 facilities and all types of general servicing and repair. Well respected locally we take a no nonsense approach to all work undertaken offering a 'touch and see' policy, which means we have no issues over any work been checked by anyone so as to remove any mistrust associated with garage repairs. This has served us well with all parts been offered to view after replacement. Offering quality used cars, most are sourced from main dealerships with low ownership and the benefit of a full service history. We prepare the cars to a very high standard and have our own workshop, valeting facilities and a MOT bay. Our showroom is open 6 days a week (see above for opening hours), our friendly and courteous staff are available to assist and discuss with you all your motor requirements. Good evening all hope you are all doing ok. So have managed to negotiate the first 2 months of being open and things are going well. Nice to see the new building is receiving the right accolades rightly so,
As I have stated before we are now equipped to tackle most jobs, great to be able to offer the following
Class 4 and 7 mot
Digital tracking
ADAS calibration
Tyre facilities for Tpms faults
Motorhome servicing
Electric and Hybrid servicing

Plus of course all the usual servicing, brakes, mechanical repairs , basically we are equipped to do most jobs.

Due to our expansion I am looking to find some additional help.
As recommendation is always the best way, do any of you know anyone who might wish to join us as a mechanic. I ideally need an experienced person who enjoys the diagnostic side of things as well as other challenges . Any suggestions can I ask you to email me on [email protected] .
I also have an interest in a person who may wish to do a few hours a week keeping our workshop clean and tidy, general help to keep the site as it should be.

We are now open and back at Shurdington. Been a very long journey but we have at last managed to get the doors open and are very happy to be back.

Good evening

Big shout out to all the customers who have continued to support us during a very difficult period. We continue to happily collect your cars during the build of the new garage. Please do call us for anything you need.

I am grateful for the attention from all the trades who have worked on the garage. Met a lot of new people who have excelled in their work and I now have a very good list of reliable guys who can help any off you with any work you need doing.

Things are improving as we near the final stages of finishing. Less cars on the road, very few trucks coming in so just a few more will be needed as we finalise the tarmac.

Many people have asked about the size of the building, and I just thought I would clarify this for you. The building size was in general dictated by the rules laid down by VOSA the mot regulator . Height, length all have to fall within their parameter’s. Also Health and safety now is a big factor, we need clearance around the ramps and no tripping hazards, and simply put our old building was an accident waiting to happen . We needed to evolve , one to satisfy the ever growing size and weight of cars, our garage was simply at the end of its life, either shut and build houses or flats or become what we have now built.

The new garage will accommodate a new full electric bay, the latest tracking systems, ADAS , a way of checking your sensors are aligned and correct, tyre facilities and both class 4 and 7 mot ramps. We have a dedicated ramp for motor homes and large vans, so therefore covering a lot of vehicle’s.
Plus our normal , clutches, brakes, servicing, repairs etc.

Whilst there have been some complaints over the size of the building, I just needed to clarify why it was required, the main reason to fall within the mot requirements , but also to provide the correct environment for the staff working there. Moderns laws require many things and safety is the biggest. There has to be a certain distance from each ramp so no accidental knocking into each other while working, it all falls down to ensuring I provide the right working conditions to satisfy health and safety. We comply to all these rules. Different jobs require different ramps, so again we have fitted a full range to overcome and allow any job to be completed safely at the correct height etc , so no more making do, we will ensure all our staff have the tools they need.

I look forward to announcing our opening day but as of yet I can’t tell you. I was hoping to be in for Christmas so that’s the goal.

Good evening to you all. About time I updated you all on the new build.
Most of you who have passed has seen we have now got the main structure up, currently we preparing the internal floors ready for the ramps and to build the office .
What happens is the floors can take a month to prepare the sub base then level it ready for the concrete. However we are having to form the recessed bays so that’s adding to the time . Then factor in 3 weeks drying time for the top screed in the office and you might understand the it sometimes looks like nothing is happening. The bricklayers are doing a great job and have finished the outside wall which I’m sure you have noticed, very nice job done , and now concentrating on building up the exterior walls. We expect all walls to be done by the 8th October at which time the office will be being built as well. We do expect to be back in around December time.
In the mean time if course we are still in business and working from Knightsbridge. We are still offering collection and delivery service for all services , and as long as you are having a service we will happily organise the mot for you. Any other work required , clutches , brakes etc are all easily taken care off from our temp home.

Big shout out to Haines Construction for the steel work, Coslin Ltd for the ground works and Chris my project manager who is making this all happen , whom without I would have never got this far. The bricklayers Miles and Rick , what a great pair, you would be lucky to secure their services for any job.
I hope you all will like the final result.

Lastly just want to say sorry to my immediate neighbours for all the noise and inconvenience while I build this. We apologise for the necessary fencing and parking on the path but it’s better to do that than block the road. Thankfully a path opposite allows safe passage past our premises. All of us are aware and trying not to make things worse. As soon as we can we will change what we are doing like the parking , but with trucks and onsite loaders etc we can’t park YET on site .

Good evening everyone.

Most of you by now will have passed our garage and seen the place flattened. We crushed the building after stripping it out to provide ground hard core so good to reuse what we had , and I am looking forward to what I would call the Phoenix, what comes out of the ashes.

It’s been a month now and we have had our curved balls as we dug the ground. Amazing amount of pipes and debris came out of the ground including an engine and plenty of car parts.

The unexpected was we found 3 old petrol tanks which we thought had been removed years ago. To hamper us more the tanks sat in a concrete bund so not allowing any fluids to escape, over the years water had pooled and become infected by the old fuel. This becomes contaminated waste, and as such basically means it costs you a lot of money to remove it. My thanks goes to Gloucester Asbestos Ltd , Josh and Shane, who kindly dealt with all the demolition, removal of all the waste, they did a great job.

Next is the Groundworks and we have been lucky to secure another local company to Progress the job called Coslin, run by a dad and son team. MD Matt has been on site now since late April and we are progressing well. Whilst when you pass not a lot seems to be happening , loads is, the ground needs levelling , surveyor in to establish floor levels and iron out drainage options, new walls, the list goes on, many meeting and overcoming issues as they pop up.

We are still OPEN FOR BUSINESS, I thank all of you who have supported us and I wanted to ask if all of you would share our page to offer our services to all your friends. Word of mouth is always the best method for new business.

Good progression and a great job done by Gloucester Asbestos, big shout out to Josh and Shayne who run the company.
They do everything you need so if you are in the market to knock something down you can use my garage as an indication of what they can do. From only removing Asbestos to a full take down .

AND SO IT BEGINS.
Work has now started on the demolition of our existing building, we expect it to be flattened within 2 weeks. First stages are removed the asbestos roof and then strip out the inside ready for knocking down. We are going to crush and reuse the building for the Groundworks.

In the mean time we have moved to our temporary site not to far away in Knightsbridge near Coombe hill. To ensure we look after our customers we are going to collect your cars and offer this as a free service. One of my valuable members of staff will come to you at a time to suit you. You are of course welcome to drop off your car if it suits you to do so.

So for any service or repair we are ready to help as normal. And
with that I want to thank all my present and previous customers for their support over the last 17 yrs.

Our new building will provide all the latest modern equipment to offer a comprehensive range of services including some we were not able to prior. More details to follow.

Photos show signs coming down and stripped out office and workshop with all ramps gone-more to follow as we progress.

We are Shire Cars have some news. We recently aquired planning permission to knock down our existing building and renew with a new 6 bay purpose build Mot centre, which will be able to offer class 7 and 4, plus we are looking at motorbikes as well. The idea is a one stop centre where clients can bring any vehicle any size to us and we will look after it.
Currently we are in discussions with contractors and anyone who has been through this knows it is a long drawn out process.
We hope to start the build in 2024 and expect it to take around 4/5 months to finalise. During that time we are looking at temporary premises so we can contiune to support you and your cars.
