Congratulations on one of our favourite customers, Mr Douglas Vick on being part of a Guinness world record achievement, the largest parade of Transit Vans which we now proudly show the certificate in our reception!

The convoy included 200 plus Transits from Chelmsford racecourse to Ford Dunston Technical Centre.

We maintain Mr Vicks van and always enjoy his visits!

We have been SUPER busy with Fords 1.0 Ecoboost engine this last month or so. You may have seen in earlier posts, this engine uses a Timing belt (cambelt) that’s constantly soaked in engine oil and relies on perfect service history and the right oil to aim for decent reliability. Even then things can go wrong.. Common failures are premature timing belt failure, loss of engine oil pressure and turbo failure/loss of power.

Just a reminder to people if you take car to garage for running issue then there is a fair chance a road test will be required.

I understand that fuel prices are high and the idea of someone driving around on your fuel might not seem great, but in order to carry out correct testing for accurate diagnosis or sometimes even just to experience fault a decent length drive is required.

These test drives often require a good decent length drive not a quick loop of block.

So I kindly ask if people can ensure have minimum 1/4 of tank of fuel please.

Just successfully removed a stubborn glow plug in this VW Caddy 1.6 TDI - the electrode had broken off whilst being removed and the body was loose but simply stuck. The presenting main dealer was preparing the customer to remove the cylinder head for machining before they called us. Fortunately we were able to remove, insert a threaded collar and save the cylinder head, saving the customer hundreds and hundreds of pounds.

Dropped off on a truck, driven away repaired. It’s not a Ford but on this occasion we were able to help.

An extreme timing belt replacement.. Fords 1.0 Ecoboost suffers from premature timing belt failure, the first symptom being either the oil pressure warning light flickering or constantly on. If you have a Ford with the 1.0 Ecoboost engine and this symptom, call us ASAP as the damage can be very expensive.

Call us if you need any advice regarding this compact, yet high tech engine. It could save you a lot of money!
