Position: Mate
Vessel: GPS Battler (Eurocarrier 2945)
Start Date: 13/06/2026 (Flexible)
Rotation: 4 weeks on / 4 weeks off
Location: Currently in Denmark – operating throughout Europe
We are seeking an experienced Mate to join the GPS Battler on a fixed 4 week on / 4 week off rotation. This position is suited to a practical and capable officer with strong watchkeeping ability and hands on workboat experience.
Working as part of a small crew, you will support the Master in the safe and efficient operation of the vessel, taking an active role in navigation, deck operations, and project work across a range of European locations.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist the Master in the overall safe operation of the vessel.
• Maintain a navigational watch in accordance with STCW requirements.
• Undertake passage planning and ensure compliance with COLREG’s and company procedures.
• Actively participate in vessel maneuvering and close quarter operations.
• Supervise and assist with deck operations, including towing, pushing & project work.
• Ensure compliance with the Safety Management System (SMS) and safe working practices.
• Support the management and mentoring crew.
• Liaise with clients, port authorities and company representatives as required.
• Assist with maintenance and ensure the vessel remains operationally ready.
Essential Qualifications:
• STCW Officer in Charge of a Navigational Watch (Reg. II/1) – Valid CoC
• Valid STCW Basic Safety Training
• Valid ENG1 or equivalent Medical Certificate
• Workboat / tug experience essential
• Experience on multicats / Eurocarrier class vessels or similar
• Extensive practical boat handling experience is essential (towing, close quarters and workboat operations)
• Experience in working in European waters
• Strong situational awareness and decision-making ability
• Good leadership and communication skills
• Ability to work independently within a small team
