🛞 Baldilocks and The Three Hairs 🛞
This tyre may technically still have “some tread”… but only just. 👀

The difference between the old tyre and the replacement says everything. One ready for the road ahead — the other well beyond the point it should have been changed.
Driving on heavily worn tyres doesn’t just increase the risk of punctures and blowouts — it seriously affects:

⚠️ Wet weather grip
⚠️ Braking distances
⚠️ Steering and handling
⚠️ Overall road safety
With summer journeys, motorway miles and holiday travel increasing, tyre condition becomes more important than ever.

At Tytherleigh Vehicle Electrics & TVE Tyres, we stock a large range of tyres on site and can often offer:

🛞 Same-day tyre fitting
🔧 Puncture repairs
⚡ Wheel alignment
💷 Competitive pricing

And while you wait? You’re looked after properly — excellent coffee, clean toilets, and even Kit Kats in our comfortable waiting room.

🛞 Understanding Your Tyre Size — What Do All Those Numbers Mean? 🛞

Ever looked at the side of your tyre and wondered what something like 225/45 R17 94W actually means?

You’re not alone — but understanding your tyre size is important when replacing tyres or checking your vehicle is fitted with the correct specification.

Here’s a simple breakdown:

🔹 225 = Tyre width in millimetres
🔹 45 = Profile height as a percentage of the width
🔹 R = Radial construction
🔹 17 = Wheel size in inches
🔹 94 = Load rating
🔹 W = Speed rating

Choosing the correct tyre size matters for:
✔ Safety & braking performance
✔ Fuel economy
✔ Handling & comfort
✔ MOT compliance
✔ Protecting wheels and suspension

At Tytherleigh Vehicle Electrics & TVE Service Tyres, we can help you choose the correct tyres for your vehicle and driving needs — whether you want premium, mid-range, budget, run-flat, all-season, or performance tyres.

We carry a large stock of common sizes on site and can usually source additional sizes and brands the same afternoon if ordered before midday.

And while you wait? Enjoy excellent coffee, clean toilets, and even Kit Kats in our comfortable waiting room.

🛞 Your Tyre Size Isn’t Just A Number — It Matters More Than You Think 🛞

Every vehicle is designed to use specific tyre sizes and ratings, and fitting the correct tyre is essential for safety, handling, braking performance and overall driving comfort.

A typical tyre marking might look like this:

205/55 R16 91V

But what does it actually tell you?

✔ 205 = Width of the tyre
✔ 55 = Height/profile of the sidewall
✔ R16 = Wheel size
✔ 91V = Load and speed rating

Using the wrong size or rating can affect:
⚠️ Braking distances
⚠️ Steering and handling
⚠️ Fuel economy
⚠️ Tyre wear
⚠️ Insurance and MOT compliance

At Tytherleigh Vehicle Electrics & TVE Service Tyres, we help customers choose the right tyre for both their vehicle and their budget — whether that’s premium, mid-range or budget options.

We stock a large range of common tyre sizes and can often source other brands and specifications the same day if ordered before midday.

This is a perfect example of what happens when a flat tyre gets driven on — and why it’s never worth the risk.

This photo shows a loose wheel with a tyre that has been completely destroyed after being driven flat to us. Once a tyre loses pressure, the sidewall collapses and the internal structure is quickly damaged beyond repair. What starts as a small puncture can very quickly turn into a full tyre failure.

In this case, the damage also made the job far more difficult — the tyre took a long time to strip from the wheel due to the extent of the internal collapse and debris damage.

⚠️ Driving on a flat tyre = rapid, irreversible damage
💥 What could be a repair becomes a full replacement
🛞 Sidewall damage cannot be safely repaired
⏱ Early stop = cheaper, faster fix

Whilst we don’t offer a mobile service, you’re always welcome to remove the wheel and bring it to us — we’ll take care of your loose wheel quickly and professionally, getting you back on the road as soon as possible.

At Tytherleigh Vehicle Electrics & TVE Service Tyres, we see this far too often, and we always aim to give honest advice on whether a repair is possible or a replacement is the safest option.

We carry a large stock of common tyre sizes, offer same-day fitting where possible, and can usually source other sizes and brands by the same afternoon if ordered before midday.

And while you wait? You’re looked after properly — excellent coffee, clean toilets, and even Kit Kats in our comfortable waiting room.

TPMS warning light on? Don’t ignore it — it’s your car trying to tell you something important.

At Tytherleigh Vehicle Electrics & TVE Service Tyres, we regularly deal with TPMS (Tyre Pressure Monitoring System) faults and sensor issues, and they’re more common than most drivers realise.

A TPMS light doesn’t always mean you’ve got a puncture — it can also be:
🔧 A failed or ageing sensor
🔋 Low sensor battery (common over time)
⚠️ A slow puncture causing pressure loss
🔄 System needing a reset after tyre changes or repairs

Correct tyre pressure is critical, especially for fuel economy, braking performance, tyre life, and safe summer driving with extra miles and motorway speeds.

We can:
✔ Diagnose TPMS faults quickly
✔ Replace faulty sensors
✔ Reset systems after tyre work
✔ Check and repair any underlying punctures or pressure issues

Ignoring the warning can lead to uneven tyre wear, poor handling, and unnecessary tyre replacement — so it’s always worth getting it checked early.

We keep a wide range of tyres in stock, offer same-day fitting where possible, and can usually source additional sizes and brands by the same afternoon if ordered before midday.

And while you wait? You’re looked after properly — excellent coffee, clean toilets, and even Kit Kats in our comfortable waiting room.

Another day in the workshop — and a perfect reminder of what we deal with daily.

This collage shows the usual suspects behind most punctures we see at Tytherleigh Vehicle Electrics & TVE Service Tyres: screws, nails, and bolts. Small bits of debris, but big problems when they end up in your tyre.

Most of these punctures are repairable if caught early, which is why it’s always worth getting your tyre checked as soon as you notice a slow loss of pressure.

🔩 Screws, nails & bolts = the most common cause of punctures
⚡ Many can be repaired same day if caught in time
🚗 Ignoring them can turn a repair into a full tyre replacement
💷 Quick action usually means lower cost and less downtime

We keep a large stock of tyres on site and can usually repair or replace the same day, keeping you moving with minimal disruption. If we don’t have your size in stock, we can often get a wide range of brands and sizes in by the same afternoon if ordered before midday.

And while you wait? You’re looked after properly — excellent coffee, clean toilets, and even Kit Kats in our comfortable waiting room.

This is exactly the kind of tyre wear that often goes unnoticed until it becomes a real problem.

The photo shows significant wear on the edge of the tyre, which is a classic sign of tracking/alignment issues or incorrect tyre pressure. Left unchecked, it doesn’t just shorten tyre life — it can also affect braking, handling, and fuel efficiency.

With summer driving, higher speeds, longer journeys, and more miles on the road, your tyres are doing a lot more work than people realise. That makes safe, even tyre wear even more important.

🔧 Uneven edge wear? Often alignment-related
🌡️ Summer heat + long journeys = extra tyre stress
⚠️ Worn tyres = reduced grip and increased stopping distances
💷 Early correction saves money on premature tyre replacement

A quick wheel alignment check can often prevent this kind of wear from getting worse and help your tyres last significantly longer.

At Tytherleigh Vehicle Electrics & TVE Service Tyres, we always recommend checking tyres regularly — especially before long trips or busy summer mileage.

If you’re unsure about your tyres, we’re happy to take a look and advise honestly.
