Colin's on the road again and has made it to Mann Island, where he's meeting Sergeant Craig Winstanley as work gets underway on Operation Needle.

Working with Merseyside Police once again during TT week, the The MAG Foundation is helping fund SelectaDNA kits and security chains to support efforts to tackle motorcycle theft. The aim is simple: make bikes harder to steal and easier to recover.

The event starts at 4pm TODAY. If you're in Liverpool, come down, get your bike forensically marked for free, have a chat with the team, and say hello to Colin, who'll be filming throughout the afternoon.

Oxford's traffic filter cameras go live in August. If you're on a bike, you ride through free- no permit, no charge, no barrier. That's not the default. That's what six years of lobbying looks like.

In 2020, Oxfordshire County Council documents described motorcyclists as "a danger to themselves." MAG challenged it publicly, forced a retraction, and kept pushing. By 2021, motorcycles were written above cars in the council's own transport hierarchy. When the traffic filter trial was designed, that hierarchy meant bikes were exempt.

Policy words became tarmac reality.

Full story on the site — and if you know riders in Oxford, share it.

Motorcycles exempt from Oxford Traffic filters launching August 2026. Riders pass through all six camera points free – no permit required. MAG’s six-year campaign success

The parking situation. We've all got one.

The arrangement with the bloke on the loading bay. The invisible-but-universally-respected convention in the corner of the car park. The spot that technically nobody owns but that everyone knows is yours. The fifteen-minute conversation with facilities management that took three months to arrange.

Not ideal. Absolutely functional. Entirely self-constructed.

Motorcycle parking provision in the UK is patchy at best and non-existent at worst. The infrastructure ask is tiny — a few rings in a wall, a covered corner — but it's rarely provided without someone advocating for it first.

That someone is usually us.

If you've got a young person in your life who's about to get on a bike, or if you are that young person, this is worth 40 minutes of your time.

Warwickshire Road Safety Education and the National Young Rider Forum are running a free online webinar on 30th June, 6–6:40pm, covering the stuff that actually matters before you ride: what the CBT really involves, why the Ride Free training exists and how to use it, and what your gear is actually doing for you when everything goes wrong.

There's a live Q&A at the end. Experts on the call, real questions welcome.

MAG backs this- helping riders start right keeps more of them riding.

A huge thank you to Taunton MAG and the crew who have donated an impressive £7,000 following the success of the 14th Tone Vale Tea Rally! Donations like these are a vital lifeline, enabling us to keep advocating on behalf of riders across the UK.

This is exactly what MAG is all about, rider-led, rider-funded, with great events, brilliant people, and support for a cause that matters.

Quick question for the commuters.

You're approaching a bus lane. Can you use it?

Depends where you are. Depends which authority. Depends which direction. Depends whether the rules changed since last Tuesday.

There's no national standard for motorcycle bus lane access in the UK. Never has been. So riders do what riders do — they learn the map, track the boundaries, and adapt when things change.

It is, if you think about it, a fairly impressive piece of ongoing operational problem-solving. We just don't call it that. We call it commuting.

This is Chapter Two of our We Ride Anyway series ahead of Ride to Work Day on 9 June. Each week we're taking one of the obstacles that motorcycle commuters face and reframing it for what it actually is: evidence of something exceptional.
