set about to open a customer focused tyre shop in Carrickfergus. Back in the days of inner tubes, retreads/ remoulds and bubble wheel balancers. Many things have since changed in the tyre industry over the last 30 plus years, apart from our drive to offer a honest and reliable service. entered the business in 2004 going in to partnership with his Father before taking complete charge a year later in 2005. We pride ourselves in keeping up to date with the latest technology and best practice training, to take care of our loyal customers.

The term ‘part worn’ tyre is genius. Part worn, barely used, as new, screams bargain doesn’t it?

This is an everyday occurrence and when we see it, we automatically think SCRAP.

Why? This customer paid £20 cash for a 23 year old tyre. Was it involved in a crash? Is the tyre defective? How long was it stored outside, filled with water, ice, exposed to UV?

The tyre was just thrown onto the wheel, no wheel sealer, no new valve, no wheel balance, no hub cleaning., no thought given to the customer.

£20 wasted. Time wasted. Effort wasted.

This is what diagnostic wheel balancing looks like.

We’re the only tyre retailer in Northern Ireland offering this unrivalled service.

First, we recreate the wheel being bolted on to your vehicles hub. Bolted into the Hunter Road Force balancer using the wheel bolt holes and using a collet at the back of the wheel replicating your hub.

Secondly we spin the tyre to check for an imbalance of the wheel.

Thirdly and most importantly, the rolling road presses down on the tyre with over half a tonne of pressure to simulate real world driving conditions.

Now that we’ve recreated the vehicle hub, wheel bolts/nuts and driving environment, we can check just how round your tyre and wheel assembly is.

This customer was fed up with potholes cracking their original 19 inch wheels. They loved the look, but wanted a bit more tyre sidewall to better handle rough country roads, so they went against the usual trend and downsized to 18 inch wheels instead.

They also chose a single colour gloss black finish over diamond cut because this vehicle is driven all year round and regularly sees road salt and sea air. It’s a more practical choice that will keep looking its best for longer.

Being rear wheel drive, they wanted the confidence of winter certified all season tyres, giving them excellent performance throughout the year without the hassle of swapping between summer and winter tyres twice a year.

The result is a set of gloss black 18 inch IT Gina wheels wrapped in Apollo Alnac 4G all season tyres, complete with new TPMS sensors and balanced on our touchless Hunter wheel balancer. You’ll not not get this anywhere else.

They only called in for a puncture check. With hundreds of wheels in stock, thousands of tyres ready to fit and over 45 years of experience, it did not take long before they decided to get their car properly set up and ready for whatever the roads throw at it.
