As driving instructors we can only advise people about their readiness to take a test!

You may think you are driving well when the instructor is:

Telling you when to change gear!
Asking you what the speed limit is!
Talking you through every manoeuvre!
Telling you which lane to be in!
Reminding you which exit to come off of on a roundabout because you forget!
Helping you when you can’t workout if there is enough space for you to get your car through!

If all or any of the above apply to you, then you are not test ready!

When the door shuts and it’s just you and the examiner, the car is the loneliest place to be, when you make a mistake and your brain goes to mush it’s the worst feeling ever!

Remember those family and friends who urge you to just have a go for the experience, aren’t the ones having to go through it, people have very selective memory’s when it comes to driving and tests!

Ask anyone who has failed a test if it was a nice experience!

Remember it’s YOU doing the test, no one else, no phone to google answers, no help from anyone else just YOU!

If you are up to standard, you will still be nervous, but you won’t be doubtful of your ability!

Go look in the mirror and have a straight talk with yourself!

This is a skill for life.
It saves YOUR life and other road users lives..

The big question is.......

Would you take an A level if you hadn’t studied enough and then expect to pass it?

Using media to spread awareness 🙌🏾

Thanks for reading.

ALL APPROVED DRIVING INSTRUCTORS

Following yesterday’s announcement by the Health Minister, Robin Swann MLA, on the revoking of the various COVID 19 Regulations, I wanted to confirm to you all that although the Regulations have been revoked, the requirements remain in public guidance, and therefore the requirement to wear a face covering during the driving test remains in place for both driving examiners and test pupils. Similarly, all Approved Driving Instructors should continue to follow public guidance on the wearing of face coverings while providing instruction.

We are also retaining other mitigations during the driving test, including termination of a test where the candidate has failed.

Thank you for your continued support and cooperation.

All Approved Driving Instructors and Approved Motorcycle Instructors

Following the Executive’s review of COVID-19 restrictions on 16 March, driving instruction and theory and practical driving tests remain suspended. This will be subject to a further review by the Executive on 15 April 2021, and we will update you again after that.

We will soon be contacting those customers with practical driving tests booked in April, providing them with advice and guidance about how to cancel and re-book a new appointment. They can reschedule their test up until the week before their scheduled test date. If they haven’t done so by then, we will cancel their test and refund their payment. Practical driving tests can be rescheduled at https://www.nidirect.gov.uk/articles/book-view-change-cancel-your-practical-driving-test

Similarly, customers whose theory test is scheduled between 2-18 April inclusive will have their test automatically rescheduled into a ‘virtual test centre’, which will temporarily hold an appointment for affected customers. Customers should visit https://www.nidirect.gov.uk/services/book-change-or-cancel-your-theory-test-online to reschedule this temporary placeholder appointment to a preferred date, time and location or cancel to get a full refund. We are working closely with the theory test provider to ensure that as soon as the date for the resumption of driving tests is agreed by the Executive, additional theory test appointments will be made available through a combination of extended opening hours and an additional temporary test centre to help address the backlog.

Motorcycle instruction and motorcycle practical tests continue to be unaffected by the extended suspension.

Further information on the Regulations can be found at https://www.nidirect.gov.uk/articles/coronavirus-covid-19-regulations-guidance-what-restrictions-mean-you should you require it.

We’ll continue to keep you updated and, should you have any queries in the meantime, please feel free to contact me or one of the BSU team.

Find out how to book, view, change or cancel your practical driving test below. Includes information for cars, motorcycles, lorries, buses and taxis.

the NI Executive agreed to introduce further lockdown measures from 00:001 on 26 December, to help reduce the spread of COVID-19. The restrictions will be in place for six weeks, which means that driving instruction, as a close contact service, will once again be suspended from 26 December until 5 February inclusive.

Similarly, both driving theory tests and practical driving tests will also be suspended for six weeks from 26 December. Theory tests will resume on 6 February, and practical driving tests will resume on 8 February. This will enable candidates for practical driving tests to have some instruction before their driving test.

Motorcycle instruction and motorcycle practical tests are not affected by the latest suspension.

Over the next few days we will be contacting practical test customers to let them know their test has been cancelled, by text, email or by letter, depending on the information they provided when booking their test. We will be refunding their test fees and letting them know how to reschedule their test.

We will also be contacting theory test customers over the next few days to let them know their test has been affected by the lockdown restrictions. Theory test appointments currently scheduled between 29 December and 5 February will be moved into a ‘virtual test centre’: this is just a holding appointment, and candidates should go online and change to a date and time which suits them or cancel to get a full refund.

We are working hard to contact all affected customers, but if you are aware of any of your pupils being scheduled to have a theory or practical driving test in the six weeks from 26 December, then we would ask you to make them aware of the latest position as well.

We know these are very worrying times for you all, and will continue to work with you over the coming weeks.

I will be in contact with you all when I get a start date to get you all back on the .
