Hi all, plse see below the advice from DVSA. If you don’t book tests through the official site and or use “apps” looking for cancellations. You may have your test cancelled.

Taking stronger action against those
breaking the rules

Dear Christopher,

As you know, from 12 May 2026 only learner drivers have been allowed to book, change, swap or cancel a car driving test.

This rule change has given DVSA new powers to take direct action against those who misuse the booking service. And DVSA are using those powers to make things fairer for all learner drivers.

Cancelling driving tests

DVSA have started to cancel driving test that they have identified as being booked or managed outside of the new rules.

So far, they have cancelled 450 tests.

They were cancelled as they were booked using a payment card that has been used to pay for lots of driving tests for different learner drivers. This means that the tests were not booked by the learner driver taking the test. DVSA terms and conditions allow them to cancel tests where this happens.

DVSA are continually monitoring the booking service and will keep cancelling tests where we have evidence of bookings made in breach of the law and our terms and conditions.

This will not stop.

DVSA have placed 4,034 online booking suspensions on the system

A suspension means the driving licence holder can no longer book or manage tests online. They will need to call DVSA customer service centre instead.

DVSA have also updated their guidance to confirm that a suspension stays in place for 12 months.

DVSA have reported apps to Apple and Google

DVSA have successfully removed 17 apps from on the Apple and Google platforms that break the terms and conditions of the booking service. DVSA will continue to monitor the platforms and report any new apps to have them removed as well.

Help DVSA get the message to your pupils

Please remind your pupils of 3 simple things:
Do not use unofficial apps or websites to find or book a test slot.
Do not book a test through anyone on social media.
Only ever use GOV.UK - it is free and secure.

If they ignore this advice, the consequences are serious.

DVSA can suspend their online booking access. Their test can be cancelled. They could lose hundreds of pounds with no way to get it back.

And once they hand over their personal data to a scammer, they have no control over what happens to it.

DVSA have published guidance for your pupils about this.

Changes to driving test booking happening today. ⚠️

From today (9 June), if you move your driving test, you can only move it to one of the 3 nearest test centres to where it's currently booked.

This is the remaining change we committed to make by the end of Spring 2026:

📅 31 March — test changes limited to 2 per booking

🔒 12 May — only learners can book, change or cancel their own test

📍 9 June — test moves limited to 3 nearest centres

Since 12 May, we've suspended 3605 accounts for breaking the rules and reported apps to app stores for removal. We're not stopping there.

Well Done Robbie, driving test passed with a handful of faults🤷‍♂️, that aside, you did it. After many Robbie(ism’s) we got there after a really daft mistake on your 1st test. A lengthy wait was excepted until your next date, but due to someone else’s non availability today I managed to get you an earlier test before the new restrictions came into force, their loss, your gain.

Enjoy the rest of your summer and moving up a level at College later in the year. Enjoy driving, you’ve worked hard to get your licence.

Congratulations Molly, driving test passed 1st time with only 1 daft fault🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️. Now you can relax and hopefully sleep better tonight, as you now know there was nothing to worry about😂. Today’s result was never in doubt as I have been saying for weeks. Having now sat and passed the driving test, it was easy in comparison to our lessons.

You can now enjoy your wee car and the freedom and independence you now have. Best of luck with exam results and the big step up later this year.
Keep doing what you’re doing and you will succeed in all that you do.

Well Done again and Thanks for allowing me to teach you.

Well that’s it done Annabelle, driving test passed 1st time with only 1 daft fault. I want to say publicly, Massive Well Done for sticking at it even when you didn’t think you could do it. The positive approach after that made today possible and a reality. I’ve been saying for a while that “today was an easy lesson” you know now, yip! He was right😂. One thing I won’t miss is the “side eye” or “rolling eyes” I’m sure your parents know what I mean😂😂.

Massive Well Done on getting the result we both knew you were capable of, you can now enjoy your wee car. Best of luck with exam results and the big move to Uni later this year.

Thanks for allowing me to teach you and being patient with getting you a test.

Awesome result this morning Gemma, Driving Test passed 1st time with only 1 daft fault. Thank you to your parents who re enforced what you were learning in lessons, this extra training is invaluable when it’s available. Thanks for being a pleasure to teach and allowing me to teach you.

You can now enjoy the remainder of the summer before the big move to Uni later in the year.

Enjoy the freedom having a full licence gives you and be safe. Well Done again.

A recent survey with regards to how driving and licensing should be developed has been released. I have only taken a couple of screen shots of what could affect new drivers.

I have been speaking about the subject of minimum learning period for a while since it was introduced in Ireland.
