Massive congratulations to Seb, who passed his driving test first time today with just 2 driver faults

A brilliant result and very well deserved.

Seb had to put up with me regularly saying: “Don’t put yourself into a position to get unlucky.”

It may not be the catchiest slogan in the world, but it turns out it works — because today Seb kept it calm, kept it sensible, and absolutely smashed it.

One test, two faults, job done.

Enjoy the freedom, Seb!

Congratulations Eimear!

A huge well done to Eimear, who passed her driving test today.

She kept calm, trusted her training, and showed exactly the kind of safe, thoughtful driving needed to get the job done.

It’s been brilliant watching your confidence grow, and today’s result is thoroughly deserved.

Enjoy the freedom — safe driving from here on!

Another solid result today — congratulations to Ant on passing his driving test with just two faults.

A really controlled drive from start to finish. No drama, no rushing things — just good awareness, smart decisions, and staying calm under pressure when it mattered.

That’s what gets it done.

Enjoy the freedom, Ant. It’s well earned.

Another one for DiffDrive.
Huge congratulations to Ruby on passing her driving test today — first time. Calm, composed, and properly in control when it mattered.

That makes four first-time passes this year from pupils at Radyr Comprehensive, which is quickly becoming a bit of a theme.

There’s no shortcut to it — just consistent effort, good decision-making, and turning up ready each lesson. Ruby did exactly that.
Kept calm and drove on. 🚗

All the best on the road, Ruby.

Kria passed her driving test today.
Final year, deadlines stacking up, head full of everything that comes with finishing a degree — and still found the time and focus to get it done properly.
There’s a certain type of person this will resonate with. If you’re coming out of a science degree, you’re used to dealing with complexity. You analyse, you question, you run through scenarios in your head before making a decision. That’s a strength — but in driving, it can sometimes slow you down or make things feel harder than they need to be.
Kria didn’t try to switch that off. She learned how to channel it.
We kept things structured. Clear routines, consistent decision-making, and a way of breaking situations down so they were easier to process in real time. Less guesswork, more clarity. Once that clicked, everything started to settle.
No drama on test day. Just solid driving, good awareness, and the right decisions at the right time.
If you’re in your final year, or just coming out of uni, this is probably the best time to get it done. Before jobs, relocations, and everything else start pulling you in different directions.
Well done Kria — properly earned.

That’s a well-earned grin right there 😄🚗💨

Jayden smashed his driving test with a solid, composed drive — no daft mistakes, just calm, controlled driving from start to finish.

He stuck to the DiffDrive way:
👉 Keep Calm and Drive On
👉 ASAP — Always Scanning, Always Planning
That’s what gets results.

So if you’re in need of a fresh trim ✂️, Jayden’s your man — mobile and ready to go!

Massive congratulations mate, it’s been a pleasure helping you get there. Stay safe on the roads 🙂👍

Is speeding really worth it?

Here’s something to think about…

On a 60-mile journey, driving at 80mph instead of 70mph only saves around 1 minute.

Just 1 minute.

But here’s the real difference

If two cars brake at the same time—
• One at 70mph
• One at 80mph

By the time the 70mph car has stopped…
The 80mph car is still travelling at around 37mph

That’s not “slowing down”… that’s still a serious crash.

An impact at 37mph is comparable to falling from a 10-metre building — easily enough to cause life-changing injuries or worse.

All to save a minute.

Slow down. Think ahead. Arrive safely.

There's a good example ofnehy you need to pay attention on dual carrigeways.

Firstly that was closer in real lifentyan it looks in the dash cam. However you should he a bit a more awarenofnthendeveloping situation. The sign above and ruenroad markings show that the left lane isn't going to the same place as the rest of the lanes.

That vehicle has just joined so there's a good chance they'll not want to go wherever the left lane is going. Added to that, it's quite a large vehicle and lacks the manoeuvrability of a car so it won't be able to slow down and regain its speed like a car can to safely merge behind you. It even indicated after it joins the dc so it's likely to want to change lanes.

This is a great podcast for both new and experienced drivers who want to feel more confident on the road.
This episode is especially helpful for learners getting close to their test — they interview the Assistant Head Driving Examiner, who gives real insight into how the driving test works and what things look like from the examiner’s seat.
From a personal point of view, it was really gratifying to hear her mention many of the points I make to my own learners. The most important things to remember are: it’s just a drive, and the examiner is human… (well, more or less😜).
