Qualifying
P12 Overall | P9 in Class
Following free practice, qualifying didn’t quite go to plan and we weren’t able to show our full potential, which unfortunately left us further down the grid than expected for Race 1.
Race 1 🌧️
With the race declared wet, we decided to make setup changes and push hard in the difficult conditions, aiming to capitalise if others made mistakes. The gamble paid off when Sinfield and Sawyer had a moment into Club Chicane, allowing James to move forward through the pack.
A solid drive in challenging conditions saw James gain two places from qualifying.
P10 Overall | P8 in Class
Race 2 ☀️
Conditions completely changed for Race 2, with perfect weather greeting the grid. Unfortunately, on lap one just after Turn 1 heading towards Campbell, Johnson suffered a heavy impact which brought out the red flag and forced a restart.
Before the stoppage, James had made an excellent launch and gained two positions. However, the restart didn’t quite go our way and we weren’t able to repeat that same getaway.
James then found himself in some great battles with Sawyer and Wyatt over several laps while chasing down Webb ahead. Despite pushing hard throughout the race, we just couldn’t find a way past.
P8 Overall | P7 in Class
Race 3 🌧️
After the progress made with the car throughout the weekend, the team made further setup changes just 15 minutes before Race 3 to suit the returning wet conditions.
James felt confident after the pace shown in the wet during Race 1 — and he absolutely delivered. At times it looked more like a drift championship than circuit racing, but James kept it pointing in the right direction and pushed on with some fantastic battles against Sawyer and Ben Trundley.
P6 Overall | P5 in Class
After what felt like a disappointing weekend at Brands Hatch, the team feels like we’re firmly back on track and pushing harder than ever for results.
A.C Motorsport Ltd GB would like to thank everyone involved for your continued support and belief in us throughout the season.
Next stop: Pembrey — our local circuit — on June 20th/21st. 💪🏁
