The ber months are officially here… and there are a few jobs worth sorting BEFORE stormy cold weather properly arrives. 👀
Some of the most frustrating winter car problems can be avoided with a few simple checks now:
🔋 BATTERY
Cold weather can expose a battery that's already becoming weak. If your car has been slower to start or your battery is getting older, it's worth having it tested before you're stuck with a car that won't start on a freezing morning.
🛞 TYRES
Wet, cold roads make tyre condition even more important. Check your tread depth, pressures and look for any obvious damage or uneven wear.
❄️ COOLANT/ANTIFREEZE
Your coolant doesn't just help when the engine is hot. The correct antifreeze concentration helps protect your cooling system when temperatures drop, so make sure the level and strength are right.
🌧️ WIPERS
If they're smearing, juddering or leaving patches across the windscreen now, they're not going to get any better when we're dealing with dark mornings and constant rain.
💡 LIGHTS
We're heading into shorter days, so check your headlights, brake lights, indicators and number plate lights are all working properly.
A little bit of maintenance now can save you a lot of faff when the weather turns.
