Mk7.5 Golf R in for some diagnostics into a misfire.
New set of genuine ignition coils and spark plugs and firing on all 4 cylinders again.

This little Audi A1 came in for a timing chain replacement after fault codes were stored for correlation and a heavy rattle on startup.
However....
As we started work on it, things began to unfold. We straight away suspected someone had been at the chain before due to the amount of silicone on the top cover. We then noticed the high pressure fuel pump wasnt sitting square, and then noticed it has snapped one of the fittings off where it bolts to the cam cover. Some little toad has had it out before, the front bolt was cross threaded, and the rear one was stripped out that they made a stud for it and chemical metaled it in the hole, only for their 13mm nut to fall off and rest on the intake manifold.
Things got worse from there and several bolts were snapped in the lower timing cover and siliconed over.

The chain had indeed been replaced with a very cheap chain kit which had stretched already. Genuine parts fitted including an oil pump chain, all bolts extracted and helicoiled where necessary to ensure everything was present and correct.

Take note, cheap generally isnt good.

This Mk7 GTi came in with a faulty mechatronics unit on his 6 Speed DQ250 DSG Gearbox. His options were limited to either a new mechatronics unit which is alot of money and on backorder, or a 2nd hand unit and clone. The customer opted for neither and enquired about a 7speed DQ381 conversion.

It was a first for us and a challenge we took on. Sourcing the parts was easy, the wiring was then done, all the coolant hoses for the cooler were changed so everything was as factory.

LITTCO came to our rescue and helped us to recode the ECU to allow the gearbox to function properly and change gear. After we got it driving, we applied their stage 2 software on the ECU to finish this setup off beautifully!

Notice-
As from today, we will no longer be booking in any PD powered cars in for tuning work. Mechanical and repair work is still no problem, but everything is a bit of a slog when it comes to tuning due to the age of the vehicles and parts availability. It causes major holdups with workflow. I cant stess enough that we dont want to keep hold of your cars for any longer than we need to, and we will only send it out when its right and unfortunately these older cars are taking longer and longer in some cases.

Second- Goodbye pops/ bangs/overrun
We will no longer be offering this with any tuning options. Usually, any follow on calls is not about how well the car runs, its normally i want it to pop and bang more, i want it to pop pop then bang not bang then pop pop etc. So from us, its no more.

Audi S3 came into us for stage2+ tuning now that his girlfriends TTS leaves him behind.

Unfortunately we couldnt proceed with the tuning as it failed the pre tuning health checks. We noticed that the idle was a little funny, it had a fault code relating to the timing stored, and looking at the live data, we saw that the timing was off from the specified request. We suspected the cam timing was a tooth out on the belt end and proceeded to investigate. Our suspicions were correct and as pictured with the cam timing correct at the top, we were a tooth out down below.

A new timing belt and waterpump set currently and all of a sudden, its a different car.

The car will be back for tuning at a later date 💪

Mk6 Golf GTi in for timing chain replacement.

Chains were replaced as a preemptive measure after checking the notches on the tensioner and checking the phase position with diagnostics.

Prevention is always better than a cure!

Customer had just purchased a new to him range rover. The car sales place had kindly replaced the front brakes for him prior to purchase.

2 weeks later, he brings it to us to investigate a knocking noise. Apparently, the top bolts a suitable replacement for the proper caliper pin (bottom one). Wrong bolt, wrong thread pitch, no worries- 20 ugga duggas and send it out!!

New brake carrier and proper bolts for a proper repair. To make it even worse was that they were actually really cheap from landrover 🤦‍♂️
