In a wee break from the weekly list of accident repairs. We were asked to paint a collection of panels from a Royal Alloy Gp.All removed and prepped by the customer and pretty much ready to go straight into primer before being finished in Peugeot copper Goa Orange, as chosen by the owner. Now rebuilt by the customer, it has certainly been a good colour choice..... and not a bad view either 😯😎

Well after 40 years of using Standox paint it's gone! Replaced by PPG Maxmeyer Aquamax. Supplied with a spectrophotometer which by placing on vehicle will identify the right colour in 30 seconds, reducing time spent with spray out cards. Linked to paint manager colour software, the best match is selected and then connected to the mixing scales ensures an accurate colour match

Busy week working around the annual booth service and legislative testing..
After the filter change which takes place every 6 to 8 weeks, fans, burner, and dampers are seviced.
A mist clearance test is carried out by filling the booth with smoke and then checking how quickly it clears. Isocyanade is invisible so it is important to know when it is safe to enter the booth without masks and to make sure there are no leaks into the workshop.
A breathing air quality test is carried out to make sure air is free of pollutants, which most importantly protects us in the booth but is also important for the quality of the paint finish.
Local exhaust ventilation tests are carried out , and then a temperature test to check the accuracy of the thermostat on the control panel, which was bang on at 176 degree Fahrenheit and reached in 10 mins.
These tests are required to meet government legislation, but most importantly keep us and our customers safe

Been asked a few times recently why don’t you post your work before and after the same as a lot of businesses.
Well most of our customers have hit the gate coming out the house, reversed into someone in Tesco or wiped out Bambi on the A83; not something they need reminding of, if you go to the doctor with constipation you don’t want him announcing on Facebook that you came to him and now you are cured and sh***ng like a seagull on chips.
Just saying some things best kept between us and customer 🤫

Wee clip from the courier back in 1970, shown to me today by Roy Mcmurchy of Campbeltown Motor Company. An addition to the new venture of Kintyre Motors at the time and the beginning of R leishman and Son when my father joined forces with John McGeachy and Roy McMurchy over 50 years ago. Back in the day when you were allowed to paint in the corner of the workshop without a booth and air fed masks, glad these days are over😉

New Kaeser quiet running compressor with built in dryer.
Now to get it connected ... and then no more shouting over the noise, and clean dry air to protect our tools, plus heat generated can be ducted back into the workshop, win win!!
