Did you know that some new changes to the Highway code have been proposed, and agreed? These changes haven’t been implemented yet, but are expected to be in September 2021.

There are 33 rules which are going to be tweaked, and two new ones are going to be added, which includes things like priorities at junctions. In essence, cyclists and pedestrians are going to have more rights than drivers in a new hierarchy of users, which places responsibility on those who cause the most harm in a collision to bear the greater responsibility to reduce danger.

Were you aware of these changes? What do you think of them? Are we in danger of turning the car in to the enemy, or should we do more to ensure other road users are protected?

How much you bought your car for X years ago, is no real indication of how much it’s likely to be worth now.

Obviously, vehicles depreciate with age, but there are other things to take into account too. Such as the general wear and tear, how many miles it’s done, the condition of the body work, if it’s been involved in an accident, if there’s a full service history etc.

Car dealers tend to rely on the CAP price for cars (which is an independently set and regulated real-time pricing structure). At iCashCars we will always offer the highest price possible, based on the overall condition of your car.

You can find out how much your car is worth via our website.

Did you know that, according to Kwik Fit’s latest survey, 19% of drivers never check their oil? And of those, 8% (which equates to nearly 3 million drivers) don’t know HOW to do it.

If you’re not sure what to do, then follow our simple steps:

1 Park on a level surface, switch off the engine and wait about five minutes for all the oil to drain to the bottom of the engine.

2 Once the engine is cool, pull out the dipstick (if you’re not sure where this is, check your manufacturer’s guide). Wipe the excess oil off the dipstick with a clean cloth then push the dipstick fully back into its tube. You should hear a click.

3 Remove the dipstick once more and check the oil level. It should be between the minimum and maximum marks. You can make a judgment call as to whether it needs topping up, but if it’s closer to the lower one we’d suggest the time is right.

4 If more oil is needed, it must be the right type for the vehicle. Consult the handbook or ask an expert if you’re not sure. Don’t simply guess. Replace the dipstick and remove the oil filler cap.

Add a small amount of oil at a time to avoid overfilling and spilling it. Once finished, check the level again. Add further oil if needed and replace the oil filler cap.
