Mercedes brake warning light on after a clean pad check?
It is not a contradiction. It is a clue.

A brake wear sensor tracks pad thickness through a fine wire circuit. When corrosion damages the connector, the car flags the same warning as a genuinely worn pad.

Healthy pads and a lit warning light are not a contradiction.
