This is likely to be our last post for Celtic Motorhomes. We have done a little video on youtube to mark the closing of one door, and the opening of another. We hope to use you tube quite a bit more, so it seemed fitting.

It is with great sadness that we have had to put Celtic Motorhomes Ltd into voluntary liquidation. This is a company that we have been running for 19 years and has been a massive part of our lives since 2003.
We have never been a financially successful operation but have mostly been able to keep our heads above water. 6 years ago we expanded and took on additional workshop space and got up to 7 employees at one time.
We started developing bigger van conversions and saw huge interest at our first trip to the NEC show. Thinking the future looked bright, we borrowed more money to fund the bigger van conversions and then Covid hit.
Since then, whilst we have had a very full order book we have just seemed to have problem after problem.
Parts shortages, huge price increases, van shortages and delivery schedules all over the place, furlough, staff sick leave, and many more issues.
We seem to have spent more time trying to manage the situation (badly), and then having to work 80-90 hours every single week just to even get close to keeping up.
Couple this with the fact that we have taken on way too many custom jobs that seem to just suck up the work ours and we eventually got to a point where we cannot financially continue to operate as a business. We are not blaming anyone, just trying to explain how we ended up in this situation.
On Monday we entered Voluntary Liquidation. We have written to all our customers who are waiting to have work carried out and believe me letting customers down is never something we wanted to do. This has been a big factor in us keeping our heads in the sand and avoiding the inevitable.
We are also extremely disappointed to have to make our staff redundant because of this and apologise profusely for the short notice given.

We hope to try to continue with a smaller more manageable business which on a personal level will give us a better work life balance.

We hope you are understanding of our need to have a week or 2 to get our thoughts and plans together and deal with the issue in hand. As such, we are unlikely to be available to take calls etc for a short while.

Another stupidly busy week getting Steve and Anita's 4x4 out the door. As usual, the last few jobs take twice as long to finish....I hope other converters experience this in the last few days of a build....it can't just be me🤣🤣🤣.. anyway, a few rediculous long days and it was ready for collection on Wednesday morning. Steve and Anita drove it up to Volkstrek in Aberystwyth where it had wheels, tyres, Lazer lights and the all important Siekle lift kit fitted. It was a bit dirty on the way back, but I think it looks great now👍.
This conversion is a massive spec....460a Roamer lithium battery, twin 30 amp victron chargers, 350 w of victron solar, our own roof rack with deck. Our own rear wheel carrier and ladder. Interior in Bleached walnut with contrasting denim blue/grey doors. Amtico flooring and black leather seating.

Having a fun evening in the workshop trying to get gas pipe from one side of the van to the other without any joins😡...nearly there.
Anyway.... Steve and Anita's van is coming on. Ladder is on, windows in, electrics 80% done. Seats done and waiting to get fitted.
With every job, plumbing and electrics always seem to go a slightly different way....I scribbled the plumbing on the white board so I didn't miss out any connections 😉.
Ok. Back at it til 11...then I am done.

Glens van getting masked up before cutting. Flooring underway. It's amazing how much swarf and filings are created when you cut holes in a van. It makes me shudder when I see how little care some people take when cutting out windows and skylights. We protect the inside and outside from hot metal filings (you can see how much gathers just from cutting the skylights), and you don't want it falling down in all the cavities waiting to rust later on.

Big power for some upcoming vans. The 300a batteries we wanted were not in stock until September, so we said f # it and bought the 460a🤣🤣🤣🤣.
Thanks Roamer batteries👍.
These fit lovely in the space behind the wheel arch in a MAN or VW crafter.
We also have a lot of the furniture assembled for Steve and Anita's van.

Table and seating finished in Gordon and Leona's Boxer. This is the first bench seat in a boxer for us. Really like the way it opens up the van.
Also fitted the Thule awning rail and wired in the solar panels.

A bit more progress with Gordon and Leona's Boxer. Wiring a bit further on. Seats put in place, bed frame assembled.

Our lads do a 4 day 40 hour week and whilst I often still work a full weekend, with the weather this good we got to the end of Friday and said...'sod it were off'😉. We had tidied up the van last week and left half our stuff in the garage....so Jacqui had her coffee in a plastic glass 🤣🤣. We washed with a polishing cloth as we forgot the flannel, but found a lovely couple of park ups between Weston and Lynmouth.

More work on Gordon and Leona's Boxer. Rear arch boxing , custom built to hide water and gas pipes for external BBQ and and shower points. raised floor fitted and edged.
