Update for Welsh driving and theory tests ⚠️

We are lifting a number of COVID-19 driving and theory test restrictions in Wales on Monday 7 March in line with some Welsh Government restrictions ending on 28 February.

This means:

😷 face coverings are no longer a legal requirement for candidates taking their theory test
🚗 driving tests will no longer end early unless the candidate’s driving is so poor it’s a risk to their safety and that of other road users

These restrictions continue:

😷 face coverings on driving lessons and tests - candidates must continue to tell us if they are exempt from wearing a face covering when they book
❌ driving instructors and accompanying drivers still can’t sit in on driving tests in Wales in line with Welsh Government guidance
🏠Candidates who are self-isolating must not attend their test and should follow the latest guidance from the Welsh Government.

📢 Update on Wales

Welsh Government has confirmed that, if the public health conditions remain favourable, from 29 March 2021 in Wales you can take:

✅ a CBT
✅ motorcycle lessons with instructors
✅ a bus driving lesson and test (with the exemption of minibuses)
✅ a tractor test
From 12 April you can also take a motorcycle test ✅

From 12 April 2021 in Wales, you can take:
✅ car, lorry driving lessons with instructors
✅ lorry lessons and tests
✅ Minibus lessons and tests
✅ theory tests

From 22 April 2021 in Wales:
✅ car driving tests will restart
