A really annoying fault that seems to plague 2021 T6.1 Transporters

Fault. SOS Emergency call restricted. Workshop!

The fault implies that the SOS backup battery has failed and needs replacement.

What’s actually happened is that the battery, a rechargeable backup in case of an accident where the main power is severed, has gone below its voltage threshold triggering a fault that even VW’s VCDS fails to clear.

The normal route is the garage replaces the battery.

Most SOS backup batteries charge back up again and don’t need replacement.

We’ve managed to clear the fault on this and the battery is working happily again with no warnings.

The details you barely notice are often the ones that take the most work.

This custom slatted ceiling started out on the workshop bench before being carefully cut and fitted around the roof vent, lighting and interior of the van.

It’s easy to look at the finished result and think, “that’s a nice ceiling.”

But getting all those lines running cleanly through the van, making everything fit properly and tying it into the overhead storage is where the hours disappear. 👌

And that’s exactly the sort of detail we love.

Specifically designed headlights designed to utilise the LED technology to its best, creating a better light performance without a the risk of dazzling oncoming drivers.
