Vintage Motor Cycle Club (VMCC) About VMCC
The Vintage Motor Cycle Club, with over 12,000 Members,With 84 VMCC Sections around the UK Current membership is over 16,000.

History
The Vintage Motor Cycle Club was founded on 28 April 1946, by 38 enthusiasts at the Lounge Cafe, Hog's Back, near Guildford in Surrey, for owners of motorcycles manufactured before December 1930. Many of the founders rode to the first meeting on vintage motorcycles and had travelled from around the country in poor weather conditions. The first meeting had been organised by former journalis

t and wartime despatch rider 'Titch' Allen, with the aim of promoting the use and preservation of vintage motorcycles manufactured prior to 31 December 1930. The club's activities have expanded over the years to include rallies, hill climbs, trials, a workshop and museum, a library, a sales and wants system for spares and motorcycles, insurance for difficult cases and an annual dinner. VMCC Today
All makes are catered for regardless of the country of origin. The VMCC has also broadened the 1930 rule to include all motorcycles over 25 years old and has also set up a Post 1960 Section for motorcycle manufactured between 1961 and 1981. Most significantly, it is no longer necessary to own a motorcycle to join the club, which has developed into an organisation for anyone interested in older two-wheelers. The club's head office is at Allen House in Burton upon Trent, Staffordshire. the most popular section is british historic racing, providing the spectacle of vintage race machines in their proper guise, being ridden hard, with machines of similar age. races are held every year at all the major circuits in the uk and are well attending by competitors and spectators.

Motorcycle Action Group (MAG) campaigns to protect and promote the interests and rights of all riders, from learner to advanced and, having already delivered two successful public meetings aimed at raising the profile of the fight against motorcycle theft in Gillingham, Kent, and Birmingham earlier this year, with riders given the chance to hold the Kent and West Midlands police forces to account, the Motorcycle Action Group (MAG) is holding a public “hustings” type meeting at the Ace from 6pm on the evening of Wednesday 14th June 2023

Herts riders take note!

The VMCC has recently come into the possession of some moulds and replica racing panel lowers (see attached photos) from a Venom.

To my untrained eye there seems to be a mould for each side, an original (and heavy) white and black for each side plus the replica in black for both side which are considerably lighter. Having looked at photos of racing versions of the Thruxton etc it looks as if these would have been attached to the top part which the rider tucks behind and engine covers ?

Please get in touch if you are interested in acquiring these

PASSION FOR THE PIONEERS: ULTIMATE ‘HIS AND HERS’ COLLECTION AT BONHAMS PARIS SALE

A remarkable ‘once in a generation’ collection of important pioneer and collector motorcycles, motor cars and related automobilia, built up over decades by an enthusiast collector couple, is to be offered at the Bonhams Grandes Marques à Paris Sale, in the French capital on 1 February 2023.

More than 50 early motorcycles and circa 20 motor vehicles to include early motor cars, commercial vehicles, tractors and some farm machinery from the late 19th and early 20th centuries, collected over four decades by the late German couple, Peter and Ulrike Bühner of Hagen, will be offered in Paris, with many of the lots appearing for the first time at auction.

The collection started in the 1980s with a 1950s Wanderer motorcycle, similar to one Peter had owned in the 1960s, and grew to encompass the finest machines of the Pioneer and Vintage eras, representing marques from BMW to Vincent. The €1.6 million Dr. Peter and Ulrike Bühner Collection of Important Pioneer and Collectors’ Motorcycles and Motor Cars is headlined by a Hildebrand und Wolfmüller, the world’s oldest serial production motorcycle.

Highlights include:

1894 Hildebrand und Wolfmüller, estimate €110,000-170,000
A completely original example of a Hildebrand & Wolfmüller, the first powered two-wheeler to enter series production and the first such device to which the name 'motorcycle' (motorrad in German) was ever applied.

Powered by a water-cooled, four-stroke parallel twin engine displacing 1,488cc – until relatively recently the largest power unit ever fitted to a motorcycle – the motorcycle was capable of speeds approaching 30mph.

This is reputedly the earliest numbered example in existence.

c.1924 BMW 493cc R32, estimate €90,000-120,000

c.1924 BMW 493cc R32, estimate €90,000-120,000
Launched at the 1923 Paris Show, the R32 was the first motorcycle to be sold as a BMW, featuring a ‘flat twin’ layout for its 494cc engine which would be forever associated with the marque. Superbly finished and produced, the R32 was an immediate success, selling over 3,000 units over three years.

This R32, featuring its original supplier’s plate, offers an ideal opportunity for an enthusiast to celebrate the centenary of BMW motorcycles in 2023.

Can we have some help in identifying this machine?
It will be needed for filming
Honda CA102 has been suggested but also the 1968-1977 C50/C70 or 90.
We believe it was new in 1969 and purchased in a British Asia Pacific colony.
The original image may have been reversed so we have now included an enhanced colourised reversed image thank to VMCC Officers Angelo Conti.

For the avoidance of doubt, this is a fully eligible VMCC machine (all bikes over 25 years old are welcome) please read Titch Allen's A founders tale Page 177 for more information on the founder's views which continue to guide us today and can be discussed with Steve Allen, the Founder's son and Vice Chair of the VMCC.
