Heatwave outside…Sauna inside? 🥵🔥

With the UK currently enjoying a rare heatwave, now is the perfect time to make sure your vehicle’s air conditioning is up to the job.
If your A/C is blowing warmer than your morning coffee, it might be time for a re-gas!

Many drivers don’t realise that air conditioning systems naturally lose refrigerant over time, regardless of how often they’re used. That’s why regular servicing and re-gassing is recommended to keep the system operating efficiently and to help avoid unnecessary wear on components.

At Sussex Vehicle Services, we can service and re-gas both:
✅ R134a (older refrigerant) systems
✅ R1234yf (newer refrigerant) systems

Had your air conditioning re-gassed recently, only for it to stop working again a few days or weeks later? 🤔

Unfortunately, refrigerant doesn’t simply disappear. In many cases, this points to a leak within the system 💦

Using UV dye and specialist inspection glasses, we can trace leaks throughout the air conditioning system and pinpoint exactly where the refrigerant is escaping…It’s a bit like CSI for cars, just with fewer dramatic sunglasses removals 😎

Whether your vehicle takes the older gas or the latest refrigerant, we have the equipment and expertise to keep you cool this summer!

Because while the weather might be hot, your air conditioning shouldn’t be! ☀️

Our line up of Jaguar F-Types in today!!😍

One of the most common faults we see on Jaguars is a failure of the active exhaust valve system.

For those who don't know, the exhaust valves open and close depending on driving conditions. Closed keeps things quiet and refined. Open unleashes the soundtrack the F-Type is famous for 🔊💨

Common signs of failure:
• Exhaust stuck too quiet
• Exhaust permanently loud
• Warning lights or fault codes
• Rattles or seized valve movement

If you own a supercharged V8, silence should only be optional.

Got an exhaust valve fault, warning light, or unusual noise on your Jaguar? Get in touch today. The JLR replacement part alone is over £2,500 + VAT, but we may be able to offer a more affordable repair.

🚗💨 JLR Fact of the Week!

Did you know that modern Land Rovers can contain over 100 separate control modules?

Everything from your engine and gearbox to your seats, headlights, suspension, climate control and even the tailgate can have its own computer communicating across the vehicle 🤓

That’s why a simple warning light isn’t always as simple as it seems. A fault in one module can sometimes trigger faults elsewhere, making proper diagnostics more important than ever 🚨

At Sussex Vehicle Services, we use manufacturer-level diagnostic equipment and years of JLR experience to get to the root cause of the issue rather than just replacing parts and hoping for the best, keeping your repair bill low and repairs, accurate💻

Whether it’s an intermittent fault, suspension warning, engine management light or electrical gremlin, we’ve probably seen it before 🔧

Have you ever had a warning light appear and disappear before you could get it checked? 👀

🚨 More than 5,000 Range Rovers are stolen in the UK every year. That’s enough vehicles to fill almost 70 football pitches bumper to bumper 😳

Unfortunately, modern vehicle theft isn’t what it used to be…
Today’s thieves use sophisticated equipment to clone keys, relay key signals and even access a vehicle’s CAN bus system, allowing them to steal a vehicle in minutes without ever having the original key. JLR vehicles are among the most targeted due to their desirability and value 💻

🔒 So how do you stop them?

A Phantom Immobiliser adds an extra layer of security that thieves simply can’t see.

Unlike factory security systems, a Phantom Immobiliser requires a unique sequence of button presses before the vehicle will start.

✅ No additional key fobs
✅ Completely hidden from view
✅ Prevents key cloning and relay theft
✅ Stops the vehicle being driven away, even if thieves gain access to the keys

Think of it as a secret password for your vehicle. Without the correct code, the engine stays immobilised, meaning it can’t be driven away! 🤙🏼

At Sussex Vehicle Services, we can supply and install Phantom Immobilisers to help protect your vehicle and give you extra peace of mind.

It’s been a little quiet on our social media recently…🤫

Not because we’ve disappeared. Quite the opposite, actually!
While Facebook has been taking a bit of a back seat, the workshop has been flat out doing what we do best, keeping your Land Rovers and Jaguars on the road 👏

Over the last few weeks we’ve tackled everything from turbocharger replacements and inlet manifold failures to warranty repairs, engine rebuilds and plenty of diagnostic headaches that have kept our technicians busy from morning until night 🛠️

Behind the scenes, there’s been plenty happening too.
Our fantastic office administrator, Yas, has officially passed her probation period with flying colours (we’re not sure how she’s put up with us, but we’re glad she has!) 🥳

The workshop has had a stock reshuffle to help keep things running smoothly, and we’re also excited to welcome a new member of the SVS family later this month. The team is looking forward to getting him settled in and introducing him properly 🎉

As for the bosses… well, they somehow managed to escape for two weeks in Cyprus for a well-earned reset. Fortunately, they returned with enough sweets to keep the rest of us happy, so we’ll let them off 😏

The good news is that we’re back, the cameras are coming back out, and we’ve got plenty of interesting content lined up for you over the coming weeks. More workshop stories, technical insights, behind-the-scenes content and some of the weird and wonderful faults that find their way through our doors 🤙🏼

To celebrate our return to social media, we’ve created a little “Spot The Difference” challenge for our wonderful customers to have a go at!

We’ve hidden 5 differences between the two images, can you find them all?

Drop your answers in the comments and let us know how many you spotted!

Keep your eyes on this page…we’ve got a lot to show you 👀

We all love the sunshine, however hot weather puts extra stress on your cooling system☀️

If your Jaguar or Land Rover is running hotter than normal, losing coolant, or showing warning messages — get it checked early before it turns into a major repair.😬

Common summer issues we see:
• Coolant leaks
• Weak water pumps
• Failing thermostats
• Split coolant pipes

Having these problems?

Think you know JLR?👀
Drop your answers below ⬇️

TRUE or FALSE?

1. The Defender was originally designed for luxury driving only
2. Range Rover was first launched in the 1970s
3. You should ignore an engine warning light if the car still drives fine
4. Cold weather can reduce tyre pressure.
5. Every strange noise means a major repair bill
6. A misfire will always trigger an engine management light immediately

Give it a whirl, how well do you know your vehicle?🚙
