What happens behind the scenes? 🛞

During an MOT test, brakes are tested using a combination of a thorough visual inspection and mechanical performance tests!

During a visual inspection, our MOT testers check over the brake pads, discs, drums, lines, hoses, master cylinder and servo for wear, leaks, corrosion and damage. The pedal conditions and anti slip grip are also checked, as well as any warning lights and ABS

Then, as you can see in this video, wheels are placed on our roller brake tester - these rotate the wheels while the brakes are applied to measure the exact braking force generated at each individual wheel 🚘

This calculates whether the overall braking force is powerful enough for the vehicle’s weight, compares the braking effort between wheels on the same axle to ensure they apply evenly without pulling to one side, and handbrakes are tested on the rollers to verify it can hold the vehicle securely ✅
