I’d like to say something…
It’s a really difficult time for everyone, especially financially. I completely get it, and I’m also affected by this, having two kids, one at university who just can’t seem to get a job in order to get by..
But…
One thing I really do want to stress is learning to drive and the importance of practice and experience. Learning to drive is not just about passing a driving test..it’s about understanding how to drive and how to manage all the many many dangers on the road. How to plan ahead, how to anticipate situations, how to keep yourself safe and out of danger and risk. You won’t learn this with a bare minimum of driving lessons and a few hours of private practice.
As a parent myself, I know I want my kids to have as much experience as possible before being let loose on the roads. I taught my eldest daughter to drive a few years ago, I ensured she drove absolutely everywhere and gained as much experience as possible. Even after she passed, I had many sleepless nights when she was out driving, until she returned home safely.
So this is just a small bit of advice as a pretty experienced driving instructor, having seen some pretty scary things on the UK roads..please do ensure your kids have the right amount of experience before being let loose on the roads. I know financially it’s an incredibly difficult time for everyone..but learning to drive has to be a cost that’s worth it. I’ll always try my best to teach them as quickly as I can with costs in mind but I’ll also ensure they are 100% ready to drive independently..and to keep them safe and to enjoy a good safe driving experience for life.
