Long week and I’m exhausted!
( sorry😆)
This is the exhaust from a Volvo Penta D12 that I suspected might be corroded ( it’s usually wrapped in heat wrap and not visible) .
When these break they absolutely destroy a clean engine room with black , oily soot not to mention the safety implications.

Latest little project going back into service.
CAT 3126 450hp .
This ran but had fairly major valve issues so the decision was made to pull and repair.
Bit of a lump and a tight squeeze but nothing that’s insurmountable.

Carrying out a pre purchase engine survey for a guy a couple of weeks ago.
lovely boat and generally excellent throughout but one thing I did find ,buried in an almost inaccessible place by the manufacturer, was this rotten exhaust hose . Roughly 6 inches in diameter and right on the waterline . Wouldn't want this failing at sea.....

Here's an interesting one.
Customer reports engine alarm and overheating .
The water circulation pump had seized, snapped the shaft and dropped the pulley into the bilge along with the belt !!
Thankfully a simple fix and no lasting damage ....

Well !
Just looking at my page and realised that I hadn't updated for a while ........ since 2016 by the look of it 😆😆
Can't believe its been 10 years of self employment and time just flys by.
Lots happening and some exciting changes on the way ( to be announced at a later date 🤫)
In the meantime here are some pics of the good ship SUIRE nearing completion. My home for over 10 years until I bought my house so I am rather attached to her but she will be going on the market soon to fund another project .

Trying to diagnose a boat with a lack of performance, get it lifted out to discover props are spangled !!
It's like trying to get ghe best speed out of a car with flat tyres .....

V6 stripped , not good news , rusted out valve seats and exhaust valves, damaged pistons and a fair bit of rust ......
