About the new type of keys:

2021+ bikes use a new type of transponder, a PCF7936. This is a type that is normally used as a crypto/rolling code, although Piaggio use them in read-only mode. This emulates the old Temic-11 fixed code transponder when its read in a basic cloning machine, but the clone will not work as it's only seeing part of the data.

Picture 1 shows the old type, reads as Temic-11 with 7D 5F header. Picture 2 shows the new type without 7D 5F or BE FA anywhere in the string. New type can't be cloned without specialist equipment and most auto locksmiths would probably not be familiar with this specific deployment of PCF7936.

The good news? We can make new master and service keys for most PCF7936 type scooters. 2021+ GTS300 HPE, Euro 4 GTS125 and many more. There are some that are not yet supported for reading from the ECU eg PGZ05 ECU on GTS125 Euro 5, but these keys can still be cloned with our equipment.

Price is £50 per key to reflect the higher cost of new chips and equipment. I believe I am the only person in the UK able to make keys for these bikes at the moment so get in touch via messenger or whatsapp if this is something you need!

Public Service Announcement:
If your Vespa key breaks on the keyring hole, please don't drill your own new hole!

This customer's key is not by any means the first one I've seen with an extra hole, and this one has gone straight through the immobilizer chip.

New keys sorted out for the customer, but if your key has a broken hole and you need a spare, get in touch.

Just want to revisit the topic of key blanks.
Once my stock of Vespa branded copy keys is used up I am going to stop using them. Around 1 in 20 people find they can't get the bike to recognise the key so it's not worth the hassle of trying to use them.

As such I will be moving on to the hinged plastic type for master keys (could be red, brown or black) and the JMA Piaggio style for service keys. These are keys with no known issues. If there are stock issues on the Piaggio shape key I may substitute the Fiat shape JMA key which is exactly the same with a different shaped head.

As ever, if anyone is desperate for OEM Piaggio keys, they can be sourced, at a price!

Good news everyone!

With increasing numbers of enquiries about late model Vespas I am upgrading my equipment to enable some new models:
2021+ GTS300 HPE with MIU G4 ECU
125 with EFI technology PGU09/PGT10/PGV01/PGR02/PGS02/PGN04/PGR04/PGZ04/PGS06
i-get stop/start with PGQ16/PGV16
Plus a few others.

Prices will have to be a little higher for these models at £50 a key due to the investment and a different type of transponder chip (more expensive)

Should also be able to do spares by post for programming with the master key.

It's going to be 3-4 weeks till all this is ready but if there is anyone local to West Yorkshire who has a late model GTS I can use as a guinea pig then please send me a message.

Lets talk about BLANKS...

1 is the type of blank I normally use. They look like OEM Vespa keys but are not, they're made from a harder plastic. The immobiliser chip sits in the recess in the metal blade.

97% of the time these keys work fine but I have had one or two instances where people could not get these chips to read in the scooter. So I am thinking of changing suppliers and using key 2. Downside is it looks nothing like OEM, but the chip lives in the plastic handle so should have no issues reading.

Number 3 is the master style key where the chip fits in the fold out flap. I can get these in black brown or red without a logo. I will source some of these to use for master keys.

So what do you all think, would you be OK using key 2 for your service keys? I can also source OEM Piaggio keys but they'd probably cost something like £20 extra per blank so you would have to really want them.

Been a bit quiet for a couple of weeks but got a job in today for a Vespa ET4. Customer had a used CDI/immobiliser set and 2 x keys that fit the bike but not the immo.
Got the immo decoded and new chips made, was able to replace the chips in the OEM keys to save the customer the effort and expense of fitting a new lock set.
