Astra Vxr in this morning

Cambelt and water pump replacement.

We had this Astra Gtc Vxr dropped off with a real nasty rattle , the customer said he’d had the chains & waterpump done less than a 1000miles ago but was concerned it was rattling and knocking and asked if we’d take a look and forge it ..

Initial strip down revealed the cause of the rattle and it wasn’t good , chains had been done using genuine gm parts but they’d forgot to activate the main chain tensioner leaving the chain so slack, it had chewed its way thru the top guide , the front and rear chain guide bolts had sheared off and the chain had eaten into the block causing irreparable damage .
After speaking to the customer at this point we used a good used block and sent it to the machine shop along with the crank and head for the full works and tolerance checks

Wiseco pistons , zrp rods ,arp rod bolts , king race bearings , new gm chains and guides ,Pierburg waterpump along with the full victor reinz headgasket set and all associated bolts etc .
The flywheel was replaced due to severe wear
Fresh shell helix oil and filter
Millers gearbox oil
And she’s now back to running like a dream ..

3 week turnaround on this one and another happy customer !

Zafira gsi
in for a Cambelt and waterpump replacement along with uprated stem seals and a camcover gasket .
And a Astra Sri turbo - stem seals job .

All done in a same day turn around within a couple of hours .

We had a load of interest when we asked but so far not many tickets have sold

Limited tickets at 400 so really good odds unlike most comps that have thousand’s of tickets

We’re raffling off our insignia Vxr 2.8
The cars covered just 70k miles
Has a full 3” exhaust
Wagner Fmic
Brand new krs turbo
Chains done within the last 700 miles
Both Headgaskets done within last 700 miles with all associated gaskets
Brand new radiator

Both afl headlights work - common to fail

Has had a full engine service / transfer case / haldex and rear diff service
Remapped by previous owner - it’s quick ! And not for the feint hearted 🤣

2 keys , service history book and wallet . Full logbook is here .

All of the above works been done in house at s*m vauxworxs as this is one of our personal cars
