A huge thank you to Halfords for visiting the third evening of the Girls in Gear course at Taunton College 🚗🔧
It was brilliant to welcome the team in to talk to the group about apprenticeship opportunities and what a career in the automotive industry can really look like. The session gave the girls a genuine insight into industry pathways and the range of opportunities available to them.
Special thanks to Harry and Lou, two of our current Halfords’ apprentices, who were fantastic throughout the evening supporting the group in the workshop, answering questions, and sharing their own experiences.
The group were also very grateful for the goodies Halfords kindly brought along, which went down a treat! The photos show some our learners working closely alongside Halfords apprentices, exactly the kind of industry engagement we want to see.
A brilliant evening and a great example of how education and industry can work together to inspire the next generation.

✨ Great Open Evening! ✨
Our Taunton College Open Evening sparked some really positive conversations, giving parents and prospective students a great look around our state of the art facilities.
It was brilliant to see our students working on the vehicles throughout the evening, confidently showcasing their skills and chatting with visitors about their experiences. A real credit to them and a great reflection of the hands-on learning we offer.

We’re thrilled to share some fantastic news from our Automotive department!

Two of our talented UCS College Group students, Hollie and Abdul, have been shortlisted for the prestigious IMI Learner of the Year Award at the upcoming IMI Awards Dinner.
Both are currently studying the Level 2 Vehicle Inspection course at Bridgwater College and this recognition is a testament to their hard work, dedication, and passion.

A huge congratulations to Hollie and Abdul we’re incredibly proud of your achievements so far and wish you the very best of luck at the awards!

Last night at the Gurston Down Annual Awards Dinner, UCS College Group Motorsport Team made us all proud with an outstanding performance:

This is an amazing accomplishment for a student-run team, showcasing what passion, dedication, and teamwork can achieve.

A massive congratulations to the entire team and special thanks to:Justin Blake, Rhys Jones, Josh Thomas Callan Birchall, and our talented driver Luke Chard Maple for all the planning, preparation, and countless hours you’ve invested. Your commitment to making this happen is truly inspiring!

What a fantastic night. Following a great open evening at Bridgwater college last night, this evening we welcomed prospective students along with their parents and carers to our Taunton campus. We had the pleasure of showcasing our state of art facilities and programmes from full time Light vehicle to apprenticeships, including our new dedicated Halfords apprenticeship.

We’re thrilled to celebrate Emily, one of our outstanding Level 2 Automotive students, whose dedication, positive attitude, and 100% attendance have truly set her apart. Her commitment to her studies and passion for the automotive industry have earned her the title of September’s Automotive Technician of the Month!

This well-deserved recognition comes with a fantastic reward, kindly sponsored by Haynes Motor Museum.

We are delighted to have got these new apprentices off to a great start this week. All representing the Halfords Auto Centres, with increasing service centres spread across the Southwest. We welcomed apprentices from Chepstow, Poole and Redruth, here on their first week of training of a 2 year programme, they have a bright future working for such a commited employer group.

What an amazing day at Haynes Motor Museum, celebrating their 40th anniversary.

It was a privilege to be part of the event, showcasing our Electric & Hybrid vehicle training and equipment, and sharing the latest diagnostic techniques with car enthusiasts from all backgrounds.

We also had the chance to show off some of our Electric and Hydrogen teaching aids, proving the college is leading the way towards the future of automotive technology and how education is driving change in the industry.

Huge thanks to Haynes for inviting us to be part of such a landmark celebration, a brilliant day surrounded by innovation, history, and passionate people. 🚗⚡️🔧
