The last Hurrah!
There comes a point for any competitive sportsman when you should step away, and that day my friends has arrived for AFB Racing, Chris always maintained that he’d race until he hit 50 and that milestone was reached this year.
Chris & I have campaigned 24 seasons together and always on a Yamaha R1, starting on a 1998 through to a 2020 model. We’ve had a number of teammates across the years riding under the Purple & Yellow banner and enjoyed running at the sharp end with all of them. 💜💛
Our final round was to be at Castle Combe, a track Chris has always enjoyed, there was an added element to this weekend, I was invited to ride in the parade and I’d be on circuit with Chris, it was a fitting way to sign off albeit with a tinge of sadness, all good things inevitably come to an end. We’d like to thank NG Road Racing for making our last outing a memorable one, thanks guys.
Chris has always been generous with his fellow competitors, helping and advising where possible, even getting me to donate parts and fix broken machines when I saw an opportunity to take advantage of their absence, win on merit not by others misfortune. As for me I’ve tried to provide a package to allow who ever sat on it to perform to their best ability.
So here’s a roll call of all the Purple & Yellow riders across the years, 3 champions, some runners up, and all have stood on the box at some point.

There’s no I in team and we couldn’t have enjoyed the successes we’ve had without the support of these people, our sponsors. Michelin Motorcycle helperformance.com RT Signs HM Racing
