At RBI Sport, we have a team dedicated to continuous development of our various tracking systems and comms.
On this year's Roger Albert Clark rally, we have achieved an unprecedented level of GSM coverage in all the stages so far, achieving 100% coverage in all stages in Wales with the exception of Myherin, where we only managed to achieve a dismal 98.4%!
The senior team at the rally have been delighted with what RBI Sport have delivered for 2025, and Clerk of the Course Colin Heppenstall said ".....we (the event management team) are really pleased with the tracking coverage being achieved by RBI Sport, and their event team led by Bill (Sturrock) have enabled us to make informed decisions not only on incidents and the safety of the crews concerned, but also on adjustments to stage times where cars have been impeded by stricken rally cars or have stopped to report & assist fellow competitors who have come to grief."
Below are the GSM coverage maps of all the stages so far used on the event.

Roger Albert Clark Rally to trial in-event re-grading 🌲

This year’s Roger Albert Clark Rally will break new ground – literally – by carrying out forest track regrading work during the event itself.

On Saturday (Nov 22), a grader and roller will head into the Ash Park and Kershope stages between runs, aiming to improve surface quality for the second pass.

It’s a bold experiment, working closely with Forestry England, the regional Kielder Forestry Office and Rally Manager Colin Heppenstall, to see if mid-event maintenance can deliver better roads and fairer competition.

Once the sweeper car has entered the Ash Park stage after the first run, the grader and roller will be standing by to follow in and will regrade when necessary on the short three mile stage.

Then the equipment will move to the Kershope stage and focus on regrading any areas that have become notably damaged by the first passage of cars. It will not be possible to regrade the whole of the 12.5-mile Kershope stage so the work will focus on any sections of road or junctions that particularly need attention. Dedicated event officials will monitor the process and work with the drivers of the equipment to ensure the safety of everyone involved.

If successful, it could become a blueprint for the future of UK gravel rallies. πŸ‘
