Not to start the Christmas talk... BUT!
Please get booked in asap if you are going away and have a pesky noise you've been putting off, MOT or Service due.
We shall be open in the run up to Christmas. However, we are getting a new roof! This does mean that scaffolding shall be taking over the majority of our parking availability so we won't be able to look after our typical amount of vehicles in a day for 2/3 weeks in the lead up to the holidays.
We don't want to let anyone down so if you are having thoughts of heading away over the holiday period in your vehicle and you do have a looming MOT please remember you can book anytime for up to 1 month prior to your due date.
(For example - If your MOT is due 25th December you can book it any time between the 24th November and 25th December and retain your original expiry date)

BLACK ICE WARNING!

This morning a customer hit a patch of black ice on the road, skidded and ended up hitting a kerb.

Black ice is a thin layer of ice on the road surface that’s usually transparent. It is caused by rain falling on frozen surfaces. It tends to form on parts of the road that don’t get much sun – tree-lined routes and tunnels – as well as on bridges, overpasses and the road beneath overpasses.

When it's cold and there's a risk of ice:

- If it's slippery, do everything slowly as things can go wrong very quickly.
- Avoid harsh braking and acceleration or aggressive steering; reduce your speed smoothly and use brakes gently.
- If you do hit black ice, keep calm and avoid sudden or aggressive manoeuvres – don’t hit the brakes but lift off the accelerator fully and try to keep the steering straight, allowing the car to pass over the ice.
