This VW Transporter T5 came to us after another garage had unfortunately snapped glow plug No. 3 during removal. The customer then brought the vehicle to us to see if the remaining seized glow plugs could be removed without causing further damage.

To give ourselves the best chance of success, we removed the front end for improved access and visibility of the snapped glow plug. Using plenty of penetrating oil and a careful technique of working each glow plug backwards and forwards millimetre by millimetre, we successfully removed the other three glow plugs without any breakages.

The snapped glow plug required specialist extraction, so we brought in a specialist who carefully drilled out and removed the broken plug.

Once removed, we fitted a full set of four new glow plugs, reassembled the vehicle, refitted the front end, and carried out final checks.

The Transporter is now back together, running perfectly, and ready to return to its owner. ✅

Jobs like this are a great reminder that patience, experience, and the right approach can often save customers from much more expensive repairs.

This customer came in for a pre-MOT inspection, and unfortunately the condition of the front brake pads and discs meant an MOT failure was imminent.

Once we stripped the brakes down, we found the pads were so worn that the piston had overextended and could not be retracted. The only safe solution was replacement.

✅ 2 x brand-new genuine calipers fitted
✅ Genuine brake pads fitted
✅ Genuine brake discs fitted

The vehicle is now back together and ready for its MOT. 👌

VW Transporter T5 in the workshop today

The customer came in with the ABS and traction control lights illuminated, Just before a planned trip away this weekend.

After carrying out diagnostics, the fault was traced to a worn wheel bearing that had become rough and slightly noisy, along with an ABS sensor that had been damaged by a build-up of dust and debris cutting into the sensor & bringing up the above faults.

A new genuine wheel bearing and ABS sensor were fitted, fault codes cleared, test drove, No warning lights, no issues, and the van is now ready for a weekend of adventuring.

If your Volkswagen Group Vehicle has any lights on the dash, intermittent faults or even just needs a service, we cover it all! Give us a call on the phone number below😎

Brand New Genuine DSG Gearbox Installed This Week

This customer came to us after recently purchasing their Volkswagen Transporter and experiencing gear-changing issues & sticking in certain gears.

As with all gearbox faults, we started with a thorough diagnosis. This included fault code scanning, followed by draining and inspecting the gearbox oil. Unfortunately, what we found wasn’t good news.

The oil contained a significant amount of metal swarf, indicating internal gearbox damage. We then removed the mechatronic unit for further inspection and found metal contamination throughout the system.

Due to the extent of the internal damage, the only reliable repair solution was the installation of a brand-new genuine DSG gearbox.

The new gearbox has now been fitted, and the vehicle is back on the road operating exactly as it should.

If you’re experiencing gearbox issues, unusual noises, warning lights, or poor gear changes, get in touch before a minor fault becomes a major repair.

This customer presented there vehicle with a reported judder/vibration occurring at speeds of 70 mph+. The customer explained that the wheels had previously been balanced, which improved the fault however, the judder remained present.

A road test was carried out, during which the vibration was found to be predominantly coming from the rear of the vehicle. The vehicle was then raised on a ramp for further inspection.

Upon removal of the rear wheels, the first issue identified was a buckle in the offside rear alloy.

Further diagnostic’s where carried out on the rear brake discs using a DTI (Dial Test Indicator) gauge. Measurements on the nearside rear brake disc showed the following runout readings:

* Centre: 0.05 mm
* Inner face: 0.12 mm
* Outer face: 0.15 mm

The manufacturer’s maximum specification is 0.06 mm. These readings confirm that the rear brake discs are outside of tolerance and require replacement, along with a new set of rear brake pads.

The customer was informed that, whilst replacing the rear brake discs and pads would significantly improve the fault, this would only address one of the faults identified. The buckled offside rear alloy wheel will also need to be repaired or replaced to fully rectify the vibration concern. Once the wheel issue has been resolved, the fault is expected to be eliminated.

After the customer reported a rattling noise on startup and an intermittent EPC light, we began by diagnosing the startup rattle. During inspection, we found the noise was being caused by a slightly stretched timing chain. Although it had not yet caused any damage, with the customer’s authorisation we proceeded with replacing the timing chain to prevent potential engine failure in the future.

We then moved on to diagnosing the EPC light issue, which was occurring under boost. Testing revealed the turbo actuator was sticking. After removing the heat shield surrounding the actuator, we discovered that the end of the actuator had previously been welded. Further inspection showed the cast housing for the actuator had actually snapped in half.

We removed the faulty actuator and replaced it with a brand new genuine unit. The actuator was then basic set and the vehicle was road tested.

Fault successfully repaired — the vehicle is now driving perfectly, boosting correctly with no EPC light present, and the startup rattle has been eliminated.

One of two clutches carried out this week — this one on a Volkswagen Golf GTI.

This Golf GTI came to us after being diagnosed elsewhere for the clutch pedal sticking halfway.

We supplied and fitted a brand new genuine clutch, flywheel & release bearing, bled the system up, then test drove the vehicle to ensure everything was operating exactly as it should👌🏻
