* * Looking to import a car ?? A must read * *

So after the sale of our Silver Pajero Import we were contacted by a customer who was looking for a similar model and had seen one going through the auctions this week.

He approached an ‘agent / importer’ online and enquired about buying the car and was given the process and prices etc. The customer was supplied the auction pictures and told his budget to the agent.

Luckily for him just before handing over a deposit to bid on it he contacted us asking us to bid on his behalf (and getting a physical inspection on the vehicle).

Having got the details of the car a quick bit of research from our side and we advised him to not bid on the car. As the saying goes all that glitters isn’t always gold - and it was certainly the case for this vehicle.

It was an extremely low mileage 1997 Pajero 2.8 diesel short wheel base going through as a grade 3.5 (which for the age of the car is very very good) and to be fair looked stunning.

However what we revealed was the car had been ‘tarted up’ for re-sale having been sold a few week prior as a grade 2 vehicle (heavily corroded!)

We wouldn’t buy / source a car for a customer that we wouldn’t buy for ourselves. We always put ourselves in the shoes of the buyer and make sure the customer gets a ‘proper / honest’ car. This is of utmost importance to us - regardless of their budget.

So yes you may see people selling cars cheap/cheaper but most of the time there is a reason for that.

There’s a huge amount of vehicles being imported nowadays and majority will be good decent cars unfortunately some cars are rusty / clocked / low quality poor examples also therefore due diligence is a must..! Especially on the older higher value cars.

So do your research on the car as well as the importer and don’t disregard someone just because they trade out of a city with a letter beginning with B 😂👍
