The Forgotten Pedal

One of the most common hiccups learners face? Forgetting the clutch when slowing down or stopping.

Here’s what happens:
• You brake without pressing the clutch → the car stalls.
• The stall feels dramatic, but in reality, it’s just the engine’s way of saying: “Oi! You forgot me!”

Tip:
As you slow down, think of your feet as a team: brake first, clutch just before the car struggles. With practice, the timing becomes second nature.

💡 Remember: Driving is as much about building muscle memory as it is about learning rules.
At first, clutch + brake timing feels like a puzzle. But with repetition, your feet start to “remember” the moves automatically — just like learning to ride a bike or play an instrument. The more you practice, the less you’ll even have to think about it. 🚗✨

👉 Stalling isn’t failure — it’s feedback. Every driver has done it (even instructors!).

Question for you:
“How many times did you stall in your first lesson?”

The Silent Killer

Most drivers think they check their mirrors.
But here’s the truth glancing at a mirror isn’t the same as actually seeing what’s there.

Every year, countless collisions happen because a driver looked but didn’t register the cyclist, motorbike, or pedestrian in their blind spot.
It takes less than a second for your brain to convince you the road is clear when in fact, danger is right there.

That’s why road safety experts call it the “looked but failed to see” error and it’s one of the silent killers on our roads.

It doesn’t always come down to speed or recklessness. Often it’s just a rushed glance, a lazy habit, or a moment of complacency that changes someone’s life forever.

🚴 The cyclist who vanishes in the glare of the sun.
🏍 The motorbike hidden by a car pillar.
🚶 The pedestrian stepping out when you’re already halfway through your manoeuvre.

The mirror is only useful if your mind is focused enough to process what’s reflected.

So, next time you check your mirrors, ask yourself:
Did I see what was there or did I just look?

Take that extra second. Slow the routine down. Force your eyes and your brain to truly register the space around you.

The difference between “look” and “see” can be the difference between life and death.

Stay sharp.
