Another TTV Clutch & Flywheel kit in the books! 🛠️

This Mini came to us experiencing severe clutch slippage and drivetrain judder. When it comes to upgrading, our top recommendation is always the TTV kit—it is tried, tested, and consistently delivers the best drivability and performance.

Upon inspection, we found a cracked clutch pressure plate, which had put uneven stress on the clutch fork. Unfortunately, the pivot bush had been rubbing, leading to a deformed mounting point on the bell housing.

To get the customer back on the road safely and affordably, we sourced a replacement bell housing from a spare gearbox in our shop, installed a new input shaft seal, and added a reinforced clutch fork for ultimate peace of mind.

How to determine if they need to be changed: 🤔

Symptom #1: High Oil Consumption

A failed set of valve stem seals allows engine oil to leak from the cylinder head into the combustion chamber. While this oil consumption may seem minor at first, it will become quite drastic as the seals gradually wear down further! 🥹

Symptom #2: A Puff of Smoke After Idling

When the engine is warm and the valve stem seals are worn, high engine vacuum pulls oil past the hardened seals while you sit at a traffic light. This oil pools around the valves. As soon as you accelerate away, the pooled oil burns off, leaving a distinct puff of smoke in your rearview mirror! 💨

This fabulous chilli red JCW came in for a few spicy bits slowly turning it into a proper track toy! 🌶️

TTV Racing Components single mass flywheel and organic clutch kit reduces the engine's rotating mass drastically, bridges the gap between massive torque handling and everyday street drivability. 💥

Wavetrac Differentials L*D ensures maximum acceleration and cornering grip by distributing power to both front wheels. Unlike an ordinary helical differential which loses all power if one wheel lifts off the ground or hits ice, Wavetrac's patented internal cam automatically locks to keep driving power going to the wheel with grip. ⚙️

While the gearbox is off, we also took the opportunity to strengthen the clutch fork by adding welds to it as they do suffer from bending when a performance clutch kit is installed!🔥

Both input shaft and output shaft seals were replaced while we're at it!

Powerflex Suspension Bushes were used for the front control arm rear bushes to firm up the ride and steering feedback!💪🏼

Finally, as a part of the preventative maintenance, the owner decided to replace the timing chain using our updated and strengthened timing chain kit just for the peace of mind! 😎

Forged N18 in the making 💨

Customer wants his R56 to make 300+hp, so here we are!
- Supertech 9.5:1 low compression ratio pistons for higher boost applications paired with ZRP connecting rods and King race bearings throughout. Billet block guard to support the open deck. New stem seals and carbon clean throughout the valve-train, valves lapped in. Stainless steel crossover coolant pipe to prevent any leaks in the future.

This is why we always drop the sump while replacing your timing chains! ⛓️‍💥

When you hear the "death rattle", it's very likely that the chain guides had also broken into pieces just like this R53.

Removing the sump lets us clean everything and quickly inspect the rod bearings for any damage caused by oil pressure issues from the blocked pickup. 💦

MINI COUPE / ROADSTER SPOILER ISSUES ✈️

Can't deny that these quirky little cars are getting old now and the spoilers always seem to throw a fit! 😟

The notorious "BINGING" warning sound won't go away until you either replace the motor or the whole spoiler system... 😩

Our solution? Lower the spoiler manually and code it out! 💻

As you can tell from the pictures, there was an attempt to lower the spoiler before the mini got to us. After an hour working on this one, spoiler is lowered and there is no more warning!
