J&M Motors, Glenhaven Avenue – Customer Notice

It is with a heavy heart that I share some news with you today: we will be saying goodbye to our workshop on Glenhaven Avenue in Borehamwood.
Sadly, like so many other small family-run businesses and independent garages (a trade that is becoming rarer every day), our premises are being demolished to make way for flats.

This is not the end of our journey, though. We are relocating, and I hope you will continue with us on this next chapter.

I want to sincerely thank our wonderful community for your loyalty and support over the decades—from the early 1960s, through when I officially took over in 2003 (though I had already been part of the garage for over 20 years!), right up until today. It has been an honour to serve you.

On a personal note, I often wish my Dad could have seen me take over the garage. Everything I know about cars, and my love for them, comes from him. I am proud that, with the help of my team and my son Scott (whom many of you know for his skill and charm), we have been able to provide a service you could always trust.

Looking ahead, we are preparing to reopen in Bricket Wood by the end of October or beginning of November. Our phone number (020 8953 4501) will remain the same, and we are even exploring a convenient pick-up and drop-off service to make things easier for you.

Most of all, I want to thank each and every one of you. Your loyalty and friendship over the years have meant the world to me, and I look forward to looking after your cars—and catching up with you—for many years to come.

Please submit your objections to Hertsmere to save J&M Motors, we want to trade for as long as possible to keep looking after all our lovely customers! We are still open for business and will continue to do so for as long as possible. Objections need to be submitted before 24th Jan, thank you all for your help! J&M

Our statement on COVID-19

To our most valued customers,

We wanted to help reassure you that, as a local, family run business, we take this situation incredibly seriously.

Following advice we’ve received from the DVSA and the UK Government, at present, we are able to stay open to help our customers with any issues their vehicles have, we believe this is especially important for our Key Workers.

The key workers in our local community are incredibly valued and we want to thank them for all their hard work. We’ll be offering Key Workers 10% off during this time, on any work or vehicle checks and tests we do for them. We’ll just ask for some proof of identity and we’ll discount the final amount you pay.

If your MOT expires on or after 30th March 2020, there has been an automated 6 month extension applied to your MOT, however you are still expected to keep your vehicle in a road-worthy condition. If your MOT expired before this, you should book your MOT as normal, or SORN your vehicle.

To help with these, and to keep both our customers and staff safe, we’ll be offering contactless vehicle collection and delivery in Borehamwood for no additional charge. Please call us to book this in, and we’ll also process your payment in a safe manner, by phoning you once works are completed to arrange payment via phone.

If there is anything we can do for you during this troubling time, please do call us and we will do everything we can to help.
