My Mother always said she should of written a book about the A12 when they started the company in 1973.

Your days being a rescue recovery company operator are not written out in a book! It’s not like any normal 9-5 Monday to Friday job like most people experience in life. The job is a life style a way of life ( I would describe it close to farming ) no job is the same no situation is the same.
Yesterday attending a job on the A12 Ingatestone with an older generation members that had broken down in not a nice place! ( Constant mental risk assessments going on in my head) After making sure they were put in a safe place and securing the location with cones I noticed that the gentleman was missing his left shoe.
I asked him “where’s your shoe sir?” (shouting as he’s hard of hearing and over the traffic)
He replied “up near the bridge, I think? I had not released I had lost it till I got back here can’t feel my feet these days”
Because of how frail he was and the metal step on the truck he’s going to need that shoe as it might dig in to the base of his foot.
So safely went for a walk about 300 yards up to the bridge and found his shoe! Did a search and resc-a-shoe :-) (Apparently, he walked up there to try and work out where he was when they broke down).
Safely retrieved and I help him put it back on then got the car loaded and got them safely in the truck and then to a place of safety to strap the right side down! Then to their destination.

Completed and on too the next unwritten situation

Be safe
Remember Slow Down or Move Over Safely when seeing a working road operator.

Throw Back Thursday image/s from the 80's

(as my daughters would say " when dinosaurs were about")

I feel like many of the few that have grown up in the Rescue Recovery Industry from the ground up, and grew up on the A12 making it feel like it was my play ground.

This was me when I was 11 spending time with my dad on a Saturday rolling a van back over on it's wheels out of a cornfield, and back down an embankment on the A12 Margretting! When most of my mates would of been down the park on there BMX's!

My dad shouting from a far got me to do this on my own! As you can see it was like time forgot No HSE, No Hi viz, No traffic hardly and no crash barrier on the A12 then 😮 Something you can not do today.

Thank you for all the kind messages and concerns over this weekend about one of our trucks on the A12 at Hatfield Peveral.

The truck is fine and so is the VRO. We all have bad days and unfortunately our truck had a hydraulic fault. It should be resolved soon.

Again thank you to all that contacted us

Stay safe

Throw back Thursday

Some people don't believe I have been driving from the age of three LOL. Picture of me in 1976 a car that my amazing talented dad built me for my Christmas present way before you could just buy one off a shelf (stupidly took it apart later and didn't rebuild it) But my Dad went and built my daughter a third scale series one Landrover from a design kit in 2009.
He and my mum built so many memories!
Sadly he didn't get to see my daughter's enjoy the Landrover.

Throw back Thursday!
Some where back in the mid 90's this was a few pictures I took of my Dad working with the old cargo and the Vulcan 804 on the A12 Kelverdon bypass rolling over a Chevy for the Police contract we had at the time.

The A12 is where I grew up from about the age of three. Most people when having family time would go out some where nice like most of my mates did!

But this was what my Father would class as "Father and son time".

Throw back Thursday

Back in some where in the mid to late 80's my Farther David built this spec from scratch. It was known as the Pope mobil because of the coach windows used! But not sure who made the spec? But I remember pouring the concrete into the bumber to make the counter balance weight ( I put my initials on it 😁) it was sold to Trident in Colchester where it out lived its life. Great truck.
