Here at Autowerks, we specialise in servicing, repair and maintenance to German vehicles, Audi, VW. Seat, Skoda, BMW, Mercedes, Bentley, Porsche

This is why unlike our competitors; we will get to the route of the problem as well as set about repairing it. We do not simply fit new parts and send you on your way, we’ll find out what went wrong in order to minimise the risk of it reoccurring. Any fi

tter with basic understanding of a car can fit a new part, but it takes a time-served mechanic to diagnose what caused the part to fail and how to stop it happening again. 🚗 WE’RE HIRING – SERVICE RECEPTION | AUTOWERKS, BOLTON

Monday–Friday | 8:30am–5:00pm | 30-minute lunch

We’re looking for a friendly, organised and professional person to join our team in a Service Reception role.

Main duties include:
• Taking telephone enquiries & workshop bookings
• Managing the workshop diary
• Welcoming customers & vehicle handovers
• Keeping customers updated
• Preparing quotes & invoices
• Ordering parts & loading purchases
• Supplier payments & filing
• Following up customers by email
• Identifying and offering relevant additional work
• Assisting with social media content

Previous motor trade/service reception experience is preferred but not essential – full training will be provided.

You’ll need to be confident dealing with customers face-to-face and over the phone, professional, organised, comfortable with computers and a good team player.

Autowerks is a busy, family-run independent garage specialising in German vehicles, diagnostics, servicing, repairs and EV/Hybrid work.

Salary dependent on experience.

🔧 FORD FIESTA – METALLIC RATTLE UNDER ACCELERATION

This Ford Fiesta came into Autowerks with a metallic rattling noise when driving, particularly in 2nd and 3rd gear and much worse under vigorous acceleration.

After investigation, we traced the noise to the catalytic converter flexi section between the turbo and catalytic converter.

A significant section of the flexi has separated and become damaged, although it hasn't completely failed. Under acceleration and engine movement, the damaged section is allowing movement and creating the metallic rattle the customer could hear.

Unfortunately, the flexi isn't available separately on this application, so the complete catalytic converter requires replacement.

🔍 Sometimes a noise only appears when the vehicle is under load — which is why a proper road test followed by investigation is so important.

⚠️ Don't ignore warning lights!⚠️

This Audi S3 came into Autowerks with a fault, and our investigation found that the Haldex clutch pack had broken up, sending debris through the system and contaminating the Haldex pump.

Catching a warning light early could be the difference between a simple repair and a much more expensive one.

If your 4WD, ABS or drivetrain warning light comes on, don't put it off—get it checked before more damage is done.

Looks can be deceiving... 👀⛽

This is the fuel we drained from the fuel tank of a Mercedes S-Class after replacing the injectors. The customer also asked us to flush and clean the fuel tank and replace the fuel filter.

As you can see, the fuel was heavily contaminated. While we can't say for certain, we suspect this contamination may have contributed to the injector failure.

Clean fuel is essential for protecting modern high-pressure fuel systems. If you suspect contaminated fuel or your vehicle isn't running as it should, it's worth getting it checked before a small issue becomes an expensive repair.

Another clutch replacement completed at Autowerks! 🔧

This clutch came off a Hyundai Tucson. While the flywheel showed signs of heat and wear, it cleaned up nicely and was found to have no mechanical defects, meaning it was suitable for reuse.

We always inspect every component carefully before replacing parts unnecessarily, helping to keep repair costs down while maintaining quality.

When was the last time you changed your oil filter? 🤔

This is the oil filter we removed from an Audi Q7 in our workshop. Over time, oil filters become clogged with dirt, carbon and sludge, reducing their ability to protect your engine.

A fresh oil filter is just as important as fresh engine oil. Skipping it can lead to reduced oil flow, increased engine wear and, in some cases, costly repairs.

Don't just change the oil... change the filter too. Your engine will thank you.
