💜 Sad to see Kerry go… but excited for what’s next! 💜

After being such a big part of the Autowerks team, it’s time for us to say goodbye to Kerry as she moves on to a new chapter.

Kerry will be greatly missed by all of us, and we’d like to thank her for all the hard work, dedication and support she’s given to Autowerks and our customers over the years.

But she’s leaving us for a brilliant reason. Kerry has decided to follow something she genuinely loves — helping and caring for others. Through her company, KaviaCare, she’ll be giving back to the elderly and supporting people within the local community. ❤️

We’re really pleased to see her following her passion and wish her every success with Kavia Care Uk.

If you’ve met Kerry through Autowerks over the years and would like to wish her well, please give Kavia Care UK a like and share. It would be a great way to show your support as she starts this next chapter.

Good luck Kerry — thank you for everything. You’ll definitely be missed! 💜

🚗💨 HELP! I CAN’T BREATHE!

SOOT BUILD-UP – IS YOUR ENGINE STRUGGLING TO BREATHE?

Take a look at this! 👀

This is what can happen inside your engine's intake system over time. Heavy soot and carbon deposits can restrict airflow, affecting how efficiently your engine operates.

🔧 What causes soot build-up?

On diesel engines, one of the main causes is the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) system. Exhaust gases are fed back into the intake to help reduce harmful emissions.

Over time, soot from these gases can mix with oil vapour from the crankcase ventilation system, creating thick, sticky carbon deposits.

Other contributing factors can include:

❌ Frequent short journeys and stop-start driving.

❌ Excessive oil vapour entering the intake system.

❌ Faulty EGR components or poor combustion.

❌ Underlying engine faults causing excessive soot production.

⚠️ What problems can it cause?

* Reduced engine performance and sluggish acceleration.

* Poor fuel economy.

* Engine management warning lights.

* Restricted airflow and incorrect air readings.

* EGR and intake flap faults.

* Potentially expensive repairs if left unresolved.

🔍 At Autowerks Ltd, we don't just guess and replace parts!

We investigate the cause of the problem, assess the extent of the build-up and advise on the appropriate repair.

Cleaning the intake may be necessary, but identifying WHY excessive deposits have developed is just as important.

💜 Don't wait until your engine is struggling to breathe!

AUTOWERKS LTD – GERMAN VEHICLE SPECIALISTS

🔧 The Rise of the Google & ChatGPT Mechanic… 😬

We’re seeing more and more vehicles arriving at the workshop after someone has had a go themselves following advice from Google, YouTube, ChatGPT or an online forum.

We completely understand why. Costs are rising, times are hard, and when you find a step-by-step guide telling you exactly what to replace, reset or unplug, it’s very easy to think:

“I’ve got this!”

Unfortunately, quite often… you haven’t.

Modern vehicles are incredibly complex. One fault can produce exactly the same symptoms as something completely different. A fault code or symptom is usually a starting point for diagnosis — it isn’t necessarily an instruction to replace a particular component.

And this is where a cheap DIY repair can become an expensive one.

🔧 Parts get replaced unnecessarily.
⚡ Wiring, connectors or components can get damaged.
💻 Modules can be incorrectly programmed or configured.
❌ Original faults can be masked or additional faults introduced.

By the time the vehicle reaches us, our technician may have to spend hours working out what has been altered or damaged and putting it back to how it should be before we can even begin diagnosing the original problem.

That means more labour, more expense for you and more workshop time than the original fault may ever have required.

There’s another side to it too.

We carefully plan our workshop loading so we can keep vehicles moving efficiently and keep the promises we make to our customers. A job booked in for diagnosis that unexpectedly turns into “diagnose the original fault AND repair everything that's been disturbed along the way” can throw the entire day's schedule out.

We absolutely understand wanting to save money. But sometimes the cheapest option really is:

If you don't know what you're doing, don't touch it. Simple. 😉

Use Google, YouTube and ChatGPT to understand your vehicle — they're brilliant resources. Just don't confuse information with diagnosis.

Sometimes knowing when to hand the job to someone with the correct training, equipment and experience can save you a lot of money in the long run.
