Preparation is everything when it comes to a proper mapping session!

This Astra VXR came in after the clutch had given up, so the owner took the opportunity to upgrade a few key parts before we got into tuning. We fitted a Helix 6-paddle clutch to handle the extra power, along with a Turbosmart actuator and an uprated fuel pump — all solid upgrades to make sure the car was ready to take whatever we threw at it.

Once the hardware was sorted, we moved on to the mapping session it was booked in for. Straight away, our datalogs showed the car wasn’t quite happy — the airflow meter was in poor condition and holding things back. A quick replacement later and the engine was running as it should, ready for the tune.
With everything working together, we dialled the map in and ended up with logs showing a strong 305bhp. More importantly, the car now drives the way it should — smooth, powerful and reliable, with the supporting hardware in place to back it all up.

Owner left more than happy knowing the car not only makes the power, but is properly prepared for it too 👊🏻
Another one through the doors, another VXR back to its best.

If you’ve got hardware upgrades or mapping in mind, give us a shout — we’ll make sure your car is ready to perform.

Sometimes the problem isn’t the car — it’s the map that’s been put on it.

This 2.0 CDTi Insignia Auto came to us with an interesting backstory. The owner told us it had already been tuned twice before by two different tuners… and that’s always a bit of a red flag. It’s pretty rare for two separate tuners to both “get it wrong” — especially on something like a 2.0 diesel Insignia. These are usually straightforward jobs.

First step was to remove the ECU and read it on the bench. We did this for two reasons:
1️⃣ It’s much safer to write over a previously tuned car this way, as an OBD read doesn’t always give you a full data set.
2️⃣ A full read lets us see exactly what’s been done before.
Straight away, the car had some odd behaviour. It hunted on idle (the owner had tried everything to fix this) and, more importantly, it didn’t feel any quicker than stock. After logging it, I agreed — it just didn’t drive like a tuned Insignia should, but nothing in the data stood out as a mechanical issue.

Looking at the file explained a lot. The map had been modified, but some key torque limiters had been left untouched. That’s why it never delivered the performance it should have.
So we went back to basics: flashed one of our tried-and-tested database maps, and let the car show us what it could really do.
The result? Idle hunting gone. Power where it should be. The Insignia finally drove like a mapped Insignia should. The customer was over the moon, and we left it there — job done, properly this time.

Another one rescued 👊🏻

If your car’s been mapped before but doesn’t feel right, drop us a message. We’ll get to the bottom of it.

Small engine, big difference!
We had a 2020 SEAT Ibiza 1.0 TSI in with us this week for a Stage 1 tune. From the factory these little three-cylinder engines make 95bhp and 160nm — perfectly fine for day-to-day use, but you can always tell there’s a lot of performance being left on the table.

After going through our usual checks and getting stuck into the ECU, we unlocked its true potential. The end result was a healthy 130bhp and 240nm, which completely transformed how the car drives.

On paper, 35bhp might not sound huge, but behind the wheel the difference is night and day. The car now pulls much harder through the gears, feels sharper when you put your foot down, and has that extra bit of torque to make overtaking effortless.

The owner couldn’t believe how much more alive the car felt after the tune — still the same economical daily, just with a whole new level of fun baked in.

Another one through the doors 👊🏻
If you’ve got a smaller turbo car and want to see what it’s really capable of, drop us a message.

Nothing better than unlocking the full potential of a car when both the ECU and TCU are tuned to work in harmony!

Ryan brought his Mk7 Golf GTI to us after his usual tuner didn’t want to take on the TCU side of things. DSG gearbox tuning is one of our specialities, and after years of working with them we’ve got the calibration spot on — fast, sharp, and seamless.

Before tuning, the GTI was running a respectable 230bhp and 350nm, but there was so much more to be had. Once we’d finished our work on both ECU and TCU, the logs showed a strong 310bhp and 460nm — a massive step up in both power and drivability.

But the numbers are only part of the story. With the TCU perfectly matched to the new ECU calibration, the car now shifts exactly where it should. Gear changes are lightning-fast and perfectly timed, giving the GTI a much sharper, more connected feel. Instead of the gearbox holding it back, it now works with the engine — making the whole driving experience feel alive and responsive.

Ryan was over the moon with how different the car felt. What started as a solid hot hatch left as something that feels like it’s had a new lease of life — more power, more torque, and a gearbox that finally does the engine justice.
Another one through the doors, and another DSG transformed 👊🏻

If you’ve got a Golf GTI (or any DSG-equipped car) and want it tuned properly, ECU and TCU together, drop us a message — it’s a game changer.

We had a Ford Mondeo ST in recently for a bit of TLC and some extra spice.

The owner wanted more punch from it, so we got to work with a proper Stage 2 map. While we were in there, we also turned the EGR off – less hassle, better reliability, and a happier car all round.

The gains were spot on – up from 155bhp to 190bhp, and torque climbing from 350Nm to 450Nm. That extra 100Nm makes a massive difference in how it drives – pulls harder, feels stronger, and is way more fun to get behind the wheel of.

The owner was buzzing after the road test – exactly the reaction we like to see. Sometimes it’s not about chasing massive numbers, it’s about making the car work properly and putting the grin factor back in.

Another one through the doors, another happy customer 💪🏻

We had this stunning 2020 Audi S3 Saloon in with us for a Stage 1 tune alongside an OPF delete downpipe. These newer cars can be a bit more complex than the older stuff, but when you get them dialled in properly the results are fantastic.

One of the best parts of this job was being able to utilise the factory drive modes to their full potential. We set up the ECU so that each drive mode has its own mapping characteristics, meaning the car behaves differently depending on what you select. We also made use of the factory exhaust valves, controlling them directly through the ECU. That way, in Comfort or Eco the car stays refined and quiet, but flick it into Sport and the valves open right up, giving the S3 the noise and character it deserves. No compromises.

Performance-wise, the Stage 1 tune combined with the downpipe completely transformed the car. Much sharper throttle, stronger midrange and a proper kick up top — while still keeping the smooth delivery you’d expect from a modern Audi.

The owner was over the moon. Quiet and sensible when you want it, aggressive and loud when you don’t — the perfect dual personality.
Another one nailed 👊🏻

We have been abit quiet on here (again) unfortunately when we are busy social media takes a back seat so we can get jobs out of the door!

This is just a post to say we are travelling to Inverness in Scotland on the 29th of August to help another tuner out with a car, if anyone is up that way and would like they’re car tuned by us now is your opportunity without having to travel to us.

Give us a message if your interested, this is a first come first serve opportunity we will only be able to do a certain amount of cars whilst up there!

Every now and then, a car comes through the doors that takes you straight back… and this Astra GSi was one of them.
James’ car had been sat off the road for a while, and he asked us to get it back to its former glory. We’re talking real Vauxhall heritage here – a proper driver’s car from a time when hot hatches had personality by the bucketload.

First job was sorting the coolant fans, which had given up thanks to a faulty coolant module. These are rare as hen’s teeth now, but thanks to our long-standing Vauxhall connections, we tracked down a good one. Normally we’d rewire the ECU to run the fans, but with this car being so original, that would have meant losing the air-con – and we wanted to keep it just as it left the factory.

We also found a coolant leak from the expansion bottle, so that was swapped out, and during the MOT prep we replaced the front discs and pads after finding one was warped.

With everything fixed, MOT passed, and the car driving perfectly again, James now has his pride and joy back on the road – exactly where it belongs.

There’s just something special about seeing a car like this, still wearing its badge with pride, turning heads like it did back in the day. Long live the GSi.

We had an Audi A4 in recently with the dreaded AdBlue warning light on… but as always, there was more to the story.
When the customer bought the car, he had some issues with the DPF. The dealership “sorted it” and he’d had no problems since.

Yeah… they removed the DPF and mapped it out 😅
The customer had his suspicions and we confirmed them pretty quickly.

We pulled a virtual read from the car to start fresh, but our mapping tools weren’t having it when it came time to write – turns out the ECU had been flashed to an earlier software version, which is why our file wouldn’t go on.

So… off came the ECU and we got it read on the bench. Once we were in, it was clear the job had been done well – no issues there – just not ideal for flashing over OBD.

With that all out the way, we loaded on a proper Stage 1 map, with AdBlue, EGR and DPF software removed, and took the car out for some logging. Everything checked out perfectly, and no lights on the dash.

The best part? The owner turned to us after the drive and said:

“I was never going to bother with remapping it as it was already fast… but Jesus what a difference!”
That’s the kind of reaction we like to hear. Proof is in the pudding.

If your car feels like it’s being held back – or you're dealing with warning lights and mystery maps – give us a shout. We’ll get it sorted properly.

Chris brought his BMW in recently – originally, he was on the hunt for a 120d convertible, but ended up finding a 118d in mint condition with mega low miles. Only downside? It was a bit underwhelming when he put his foot down.
He got in touch to see if we could wake it up a bit, and of course, we were more than happy to help.

After some proper road tuning and tweaking the factory software, we took it from a sleepy 141bhp and 300Nm to a much more lively 180bhp and 400Nm. That’s a serious bump in usable power and torque, and Chris was absolutely over the moon with how it now drives. He said it finally feels like the car he actually wanted.

Here’s something worth noting – a lot of these cars are intentionally detuned from factory, not because they can’t handle more, but to make you spend extra on the next model up. Most of the time, it’s just software restrictions – the hardware underneath is often nearly identical.

So if you’ve got a car that feels like it’s being held back, chances are… it probably is. Drop us a message and let’s see what’s hiding in yours.

Bit of a different one through the doors yesterday — we had a campervan in for a speed limiter removal, but after chatting with the owner, he decided to go for a Stage 1 remap while it was here.
The van’s running gear is the same as you'd find in other models with more power so we know we could improve on it without compromising reliability, but obviously with all that extra weight in the back from the conversion, it was feeling pretty sluggish. Not ideal when you’re fully loaded and trying to get up a hill without dropping two gears!

First job was tackling the speed limiter… it definitely didn’t want to come off without a fight. Took a few different approaches and some head-scratching, but we cracked it in the end.

Then we moved on to tuning. With some road data and a proper custom Stage 1 map, we managed to get the power up from 130bhp to 180bhp and picked up a solid extra 100Nm of torque. That’s a big difference in something this heavy – it'll cruise better, pull stronger, and be way more comfortable to drive, especially when loaded up for a trip.

Not the fastest thing we’ve had through the doors, but definitely one of the more satisfying results – we love tuning vehicles to suit their purpose.

If your van, car, or even your fridge on wheels needs sorting, give us a shout!
