If you’re watching Watchdog on the ‘One Show’ and their piece on the premature failure of the Ford Eco boost engines timing belt and the apparent rise of clocking mileages on cars speedo’s, here are my thoughts.

Yes. This is a monumental engineering design failure.
The Ford 1.0 litre Eco boost engine suffers from premature timing belt wear and the debris blocks the oil pump pick up. This is critical for the engine as it restricts essential lubrication of the bearings and moving surfaces.
To change the belts involves lots of kit including a ‘torque multiplier’ and special tools.
Guess what? We have those tools and and we are able to change the belt before it becomes a problem…..

As for vehicle clocking.
Did you know that on VW Audi group vehicles, the mileage is recorded separately on the engines computer and only accessible by workshops able to download that information…..

We can interrogate that and show the true mileage.

Starting to get much busier now so please don't forget we can collect and deliver your vehicle within a 5 mile radius to save you leaving the house and having contact with people outside your own household.
MOT testing as normal to make sure all cars on the roads are roadworthy.

Hi Everyone,
So I’d like to update you with how things stand at Autotechnics Blandford, we are re opening tomorrow morning (Tuesday 14th April) having been closed for 3 weeks following government advice.
We have customers who need their cars so we’ll be operating on a smaller scale with a reduced workforce to meet demands.
Safety protocols will be in place as before to protect staff and customers and a free collection and delivery service is available within a 5 mile radius.
Hopefully we’ll be back to full strength soon.

Following the Prime Ministers address tonight I’ve made the difficult but right decision to close Autotechnics Blandford Ltd until the Coronavirus situation improves.
This will not only protect my staff and their families but also help to slow down the spread of this disease.
We will be back up and running as soon as we are advised it is safe to do so.

Hi Everyone,

As it currently stands, Autotechnics Blandford Ltd is remaining open during these unprecedented and difficult times in order to provide an important service to its customers.

In order to protect both our customers and our staff we will be following Goverment advise regarding social distancing and general hygiene.

Therefore as from Monday 23rd March the following protocols will be in place:

You will NOT be able to wait in the reception area whilst work takes place on your vehicle.

There will be a safe distance marked out at the reception desk for key drop off, collections and customer payments.

Regular cleaning and disinfecting off the reception area and toilets will take place and technicians will wear Nitrile gloves for both working on and driving all vehicles.

If we are collecting your vehicle (which we are happy to do so) we will need the key left in a safe place to avoid personal interaction.

Thank you all for your understanding and cooperation during these difficult times and help us all to stay safe.
