What a week. What a team. What an achievement.

After months of preparation, development, testing, and countless hours of hard work from everyone involved, we crossed the finish line at Pikes Peak and made history.

The GTi has officially set a new Front-Wheel-Drive record on the mountain, taking nearly 15 seconds off the previous benchmark. To achieve something of this magnitude at one of the most demanding motorsport events in the world is truly incredible, and we couldn’t be prouder to have played a part in the journey.

From the first concepts and late nights in the workshop to the final run up the mountain, this project has been a testament to what can be achieved when talented people come together with a shared goal.

A huge congratulations to Jim and the entire team. Your determination, vision, commitment, and belief in the project have delivered a result that will be remembered for years to come. Watching all of the hard work come together on race day and seeing the car cross the finish line to secure a new world record is something none of us will ever forget.

Pikes Peak is a challenge unlike any other, and to leave the mountain as record holders is an achievement that everyone involved should be immensely proud of.

Thank you to every team member, partner, supporter, and friend who helped make this possible.

🏆 PIKES PEAK CHAMPIONS! 🏆

WE DID IT!

After months of design, development, testing, problem-solving, and countless hours of hard work, we are proud to announce that we are Pikes Peak class champions!

From the first concepts and CFD simulations to the final setup on America’s Mountain, every member of the team has given everything to make this achievement possible.

The car performed flawlessly throughout the event, with the aerodynamic package delivering exactly what we had developed it to do. Following successful testing on the lower sections of the mountain, confidence grew with every run, and when it mattered most, the team and car delivered.

Pikes Peak is one of the most demanding motorsport events in the world. 156 corners, changing weather, extreme altitude, and no room for mistakes. To compete here is an achievement. To win is something truly special.

This victory belongs to every engineer, mechanic, designer, supporter, partner, sponsor, family member, and fan who has been part of the journey.

The mountain challenged us, but together we conquered it.

Sometimes in life you just have to stop, step back and appreciate your own work!
We don’t do this as much as we should, we are always so focused on the project in hand that once’s we have finished a job we are 100% on the next in line, but reflection and appreciation of what we have achieved this far is needed, we love what we do and to see the Golf of Jim Morris that we worked so hard to complete on the hill at Pikes Peak Int'l Hill Climb is just amazing! But without our customers we wouldn’t be on this journey, so a big thank you from us to you! After months of design, development, and testing, Jim Morris and the beautiful Pikes Peak Golf has officially arrived at Pikes Peak!

She’s now completed her first test runs on the lower section of the mountain and are continuing to work through our testing programme. It’s been great to see the car on the mountain for the first time and gather valuable data in the unique high-altitude conditions.

Seeing the project reach this stage is a huge milestone for everyone involved. Countless hours of design, composite manufacturing, engineering, and preparation have gone into getting us here, and we’re looking forward to making the most of our time on the mountain.

There is still plenty of work ahead as testing continues, but we’re excited to keep building on the progress made so far.

What a year it’s been so far! Already half way through! Can you believe it!

With that in mind we are taking orders for the 2027 season with our 100% Carbonfiber Pit Stop Lollipop! As seen here with thank you to this great team for always keeping us on our toes with repairing their composite damage, we love being able to support, also thank you for the footage just class as always (hope you like our remix!)

What a fantastic weekend for at Snetterton, taking pole position in qualifying before going on to secure three race wins and three fastest laps. It’s always rewarding to see a project perform exactly as intended when everything comes together on track.

We’re especially proud to have played our part in the build by producing the bespoke front bumper for the car. Seeing components we’ve created performing at the highest level of competition and contributing to a faultless weekend is what it’s all about. The car looked incredible and clearly had the pace to match.

The combination of meticulous preparation from Area Motorsport, the updated braking package, and a well-drilled pit crew resulted in a package that was fast, reliable and consistent throughout the weekend. From the first session to the final lap, the car never missed a beat.

Congratulations to the entire team on an outstanding result. We can’t wait to see what Donington Park brings next, especially at the driver’s home circuit. Good luck from everyone at Carbon Repair UK!

Next set of finished photos before the Volkswagen Golf began its journey to the USA for the legendary Pikes Peak International Hill Climb 2026. After more than four years of development, the car is now entering the final stages ahead of taking on the world-famous “Race to the Clouds” in Colorado Springs this June.

Built by historic racer and Midlands entrepreneur Jim Morris alongside his team at GTS Motorsport, the Golf has been engineered with one objective — to challenge the long-standing front-wheel-drive record on the brutal 12.42-mile mountain course featuring 156 corners and an altitude of over 14,000 feet.

Carbon Repair UK has been heavily involved throughout the project, producing and repairing a wide range of bespoke carbon fibre and Kevlar components across the build. Every panel and detail has been developed with performance, strength and weight-saving in mind to help prepare the car for one of motorsport’s toughest challenges.

Producing over 500bhp and featuring an advanced aerodynamic package developed by renowned aerodynamicist John Iley, the car is now ready for testing and final setup work on the mountain itself before race day. Here are a few more behind-the-scenes shots before she was shipped out to America.

Historic racer and Midlands entrepreneur Jim Morris is preparing to tackle the legendary 104th running of the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb in Colorado Springs, USA, on 21 June 2026, after receiving a coveted invitation earlier this year. Known worldwide as the “Race to the Clouds,” the iconic 12.42-mile course features 156 corners and climbs to over 14,000 feet above sea level.

Built over the last four years, Morris’ extreme Volkswagen Golf has been engineered with one goal in mind — to challenge the long-standing front-wheel-drive record of 10 minutes 48 seconds. Designed and constructed by his Warwickshire-based company GTS Motorsport, the car showcases the engineering expertise and specialist products developed across his motorsport businesses.

Carbon Repair UK played a major role in the project, creating and repairing a huge amount of the bespoke carbon fibre and Kevlar components featured throughout the build. From lightweight aerodynamic panels to detailed composite work, the car represents thousands of hours of craftsmanship and development ahead of its journey to America.

Producing over 500bhp and featuring advanced aerodynamics developed by renowned aerodynamicist John Iley, the Golf is now entering its final preparation stages before taking on one of the toughest and most prestigious events in world motorsport. Staying true to his family’s Volkswagen roots, Jim has spent the last four years developing an uncompromising Volkswagen Golf built specifically to attack the mountain’s brutal 12.42-mile course and 156 corners at over 14,000ft above sea level.

At Carbon Repair UK, we’re incredibly proud to have designed and manufactured the complete carbon fibre and Kevlar aerodynamic package for this iconic project, turning Jim’s CFD-developed concepts into reality through advanced composite engineering. With the current front-wheel-drive record firmly in their sights and the countdown now underway, we can’t wait to see this stunning machine make its assault on the mountain.
