Is your handbrake suddenly coming up really high?

1 click… 2 clicks… 3… 4… are we going to the roof?! 😳😂

Before you panic, handbrakes can stretch and lose adjustment over time. The good news is, they can often be adjusted to bring the travel back down. 🔧

So if your handbrake feels a bit more like a lever in a forklift than a handbrake… it might be time to get it checked! 😆

🚨 IT LOOKED FINE… UNTIL WE LOOKED CLOSER 👀

This Corsa came in for its MOT on Thursday, and from the outside, the tyre didn't look particularly alarming.

But when we checked the inner sidewall… 😳

There was a nasty bulge in the sidewall that wasn't obvious from the outside.

A bulge like this can indicate damage to the tyre's internal structure and isn't something to ignore — it can potentially lead to sudden tyre failure.

👉 The important bit: Don't just look at the tread you can see. Tyres need checking all the way around, including the inside edge and sidewalls.

🔎 **HAVE YOU EVER SEEN THESE ON YOUR TYRES?** 🚗

Those little raised bars in the grooves of your tyre are called **wear indicators** — and they’re there for a reason!

As your tyre wears down, the tread gets closer and closer to these markers.

👉 When the tread is level with the wear indicator, **your tyre has reached 1.6mm**, which is the legal minimum tread depth for cars in the UK.

But don’t wait until they’re completely level! Worn tyres can mean **less grip, poorer braking and reduced performance in the wet.** 🌧️

It might seem like one of those little things you don’t need to worry about… until you’re driving through spray, the windscreen is filthy and the washer bottle is empty! 😩😂

With the darker evenings and wetter weather on the way, it’s worth checking your screen wash is **topped up and strong enough for the colder months.**

❌ Don’t rely on plain water
❄️ Use a proper screen wash with antifreeze protection
👀 Keep your windscreen clean and your visibility clear

When the rain comes, your tyres need to work hard to keep you safely in contact with the road.

The tread on your tyres is designed to **channel water away** from the tyre, helping it maintain contact with the road surface.

As tread wears down, that ability is reduced — increasing the risk of **aquaplaning**, particularly in heavy rain.

🚗 The legal minimum tread depth is **1.6mm**, but don’t wait until your tyres are at the limit.

Safe to say it turned into a little more than expected! The whole back end stripped down just to get the job done properly.
