2024 SRC Star Driver winner Rob Cotton will be starting 2026 at the John Haugland Winter Rally School in Norway for 3 full days of tuition directly with the great man himself. Rob will be using the prize contribution from the SRC, plus some sponsorship from other sponsors including Championship supporters Proflex, and his own pocket to help fund this excellent opportunity.

Rob’s British National Championship winning Subaru was shipped across to Norway before Christmas and starting on 5th January, Rob will benefit from both practical and theoretical tuition from the former long-time Skoda works driver. This will include flat-out driving around 100km each day on a frozen lake and over snowy special stages in the mountains of South Norway.

The theory part of the course leans on John’s 60-odd years of motorsport experience and knowledge to cover personal preparation before an event, car set-up, pace-notes and driving technique.

We’re sure Rob will benefit greatly from his experience and look forward to hearing all about it on his return. He is hoping to post updates during his trip on his own social media page.
The nominations for, and winner of, the 2025 SRC Star Driver Award will be announced at the Awards Evening on 31st January.
