Fleet managers don't really buy trucks & vans. They buy uptime.

A vehicle can look like great value on paper.
Then it spends three days off the road.
Suddenly the purchase price isn't the number that matters.

Replacement vehicle costs, missed deliveries, driver time, workshop delays and unhappy customers can quickly dwarf relatively small savings made when sourcing the vehicle.

That's why we think the industry needs to talk more about cost per productive day, rather than simply cost per asset.

Mileage might be one of the most overrated numbers when buying a used truck

Of course it matters....

But we'd rather understand how those miles were accumulated.

Motorway trunking and 500,000 well-maintained kilometres can tell a very different story from a truck that's spent its life doing intensive stop/start work.

Specification, maintenance history, application and overall condition all deserve a place alongside the odometer.

The cheapest truck isn’t necessarily the truck with the lowest monthly payment....

When fleets compare renting with buying, the conversation can become too focused on the headline monthly cost.

But what does an unexpected week off the road cost your business?

What about maintenance administration, replacement vehicles, depreciation and the capital tied up in an asset that might not be fully utilised?

For some operations, ownership absolutely makes sense.
For others, transferring some of that risk through rental can be worth considerably more than the difference on a spreadsheet.

The better question isn't simply "rent or buy?",
It's "where should the risk sit?"
