🚘UNFORTUNATELY NOT ALL ENGINE FAILURES CAN BE REPAIRED
Today we had a Mercedes recovered to us, after the customer experienced a sudden bang followed by black smoke. We carried out a thorough investigation, including a bore scope inspection and after removing the undertray the problem became very clear! Unfortunately one of the connecting rods had quite literally “left the building” - breaking through the engine block. A serious engine failure and sadly this one is going to require a replacement engine.
It’s never news we want to give a customer but our priority is always to accurately diagnose the problem and explain what has happened before recommending any work. 🔧Honest diagnosis. Professional workmanship. Straightforward advice.

📢 IMPORTANT NOTICE – MOT TESTS
GLA Autos would like to make customers aware that DVSA is currently experiencing an issue with its MOT testing system.
Please be assured that this is a DVSA system issue and is not an issue with GLA Autos.
During this temporary outage, we are continuing to carry out MOT tests as normal. Customers who receive a PASS will be provided with a written MOT pass document as confirmation of their test result.
Once the DVSA system is back up and running, we will upload the MOT test results onto the official system.
We appreciate your patience and understanding while DVSA works to resolve the issue.

🚨 THIS IS WHY PROPER DIAGNOSIS MATTERS! 🚨
This vehicle came into GLA Autos for a timing chain replacement — but further investigation uncovered a much bigger problem.
The timing chain tensioner guide had broken, with pieces making their way into the sump and oil strainers. 😬
We didn’t just replace the chain and send it out.

🔧 Sump removed & thoroughly cleaned
🔧 Oil strainer cleaned & checked
🔧 Full service
