Yesterday was the Capesthorne Hall event, where the Daimler Corsica and the XJ40 Humberstone Estate were prominently displayed. This is the last event for me and was the final push before XJ40 at 40 Part 1: Coventry

Thank you very much to the organisers who let us promote XJ40 and the Corsica in the ring and for providing a great day - made even better by the weather! And Thank you to the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust for allowing the Corsica to take part!

A lot to celebrate tonight!

Firstly, a big well done for the Gaydon Gathering put on by the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust and the British Motor Museum. XJ40 was the header for the show and we had D38, The Humberstone Estate, TAC the Estate, M94 (the last XJ40 built) and of course, the Fire Tender. There was an epic array of all brands of cars, eras and origins on display.

But was thrilled to be asked to Team up with David Marks and showing to the crowd what the Fire Tender could do with full lights and sirens. Link to the JDHT video below and please subscribe to them if you’re not already;

It was also a very nice thing to hear that the BBC have done a feature promoting our XJ40@40 Coventry event on their website today! We are only 3 weeks-ish away and we are at 60 cars! Please come and get involved as this is going to be a blast. BBC link below;

Thank you again for all of the time, help and support of XJ40 you all are putting in, and thank you to the JDHT for letting us come and represent the cars we love!

07/05/2026

Hi everyone, this week we are focusing on Belgium, but before I do, I am celebrating a small victory for Minty the Peppermint Insignia.

Today Minty got some new number plates fitted, but not just any plates, but L336 RVC. This is the registration assignment which is original to the car from when it was a company car at Jaguar for the first 10 months and 4,000 miles of its life. When it found its first private owner it was assigned a private plate, and thereafter the car was never reassigned L336 RVC by the DVLA – which was sadly common at the time. The plates the car had after L336 RVC were - 581 BMC, L707 JOL, A4 NPB, L707 JOL (again), XJI 4893 and then 5-XHK-39 when it went to the Netherlands to live.

When I bought the car and brought it back to the U.K, it was important that L336 RVC was reinstated, as call back to the original identity, its link to Jaguar and the city of Coventry where all of our cars were born. The DVLA however ignored my letter, and the subsequent 7 letters – giving the car XJI 4893 back instead, but we finally have a VICTORY! Today, Minty was rightfully put back to his 1993 best, and on Jaguar Cars Ltd plates too…I am delighted – and in time for XJ40@40 Coventry which is now less than 1 month away!!!!

So, without any more delay, please see this week’s tribute to the good people of Belgium!

A great weekend again. WELL DONE to Dan Moffatt for his stand at Donnington last weekend where there was a very nice selection of XJ40’s. It’s not easy arranging events (as I have come to appreciate) and you did great Dan, what a way to kick off 2026, the year of XJ40.

On the Sunday, the XJ40 Fire Tender which belongs to the JDHT made a very special trip to see the mum and dad of the XJ40 Family - Howard and Ann Hunt. Howard had a trip around the block in the car, and we had a lovely lunch talking about the 1986 launch and many of their experiences of back in the XJ40 days at Jaguar. They will be at the Guildhall evening meal in June to celebrate with us, and we cannot wait to welcome them.

We are only just one month away from XJ40 at 40 Part 1: Coventry - it’s scary. Where is the time going? The next month will be a busy one, preparing for this huge weekend. We are at 58 cars - so close to hitting a huge number of 60.

The support has been immense and we are welcoming a lot of XJ40 owners and enthusiasts, friends of the Register, JDHT, JLR, JLR Classic, ex-Browns Lane and management - it’s mega!

Thank you to everyone so far for all of your support. Final month, here we go….!!!

Hi everyone, this week we are focusing on Canada!

Cars going to certain markets had a market specific VIN. Canada was one of them. Many people believe that the Canadian market was a duplicate of the USA due to their proximity – this isn’t true. The Vanden Plas Majestic SWB for example was offered to the USA only, but not to Canada, and also, the VIN which identifies Canadian cars are unique to Canada, so you can identify which side of the massive border a car went to.

Canada didn’t come anywhere near the USA sales volume however. As we learned 2 weeks ago on the USA focus, America is the biggest market by sales volume compared to all others. As you will see below, this wasn’t the case on the north side of the border. Canadian cars, like all others, are still a significant part of XJ40 history, and it is a demographic that fights its corner well on the XJ40 Register database.

• Total number of cars recorded as last known to be in Canada as of 26/04/2026: 2,142

• Cars which are known to originally be from Canada, but are now exported out to another country: 16
• Cars which are known to originally be from Canada and were last known to still be there: 2,132
• Cars which are known to originally be from other countries and have later been imported to Canada: 10

• Cars believed to still exist/confirmed as existing: 32
• Cars known to be scrapped/destroyed/being broken for parts: 4
• Remaining cars with survivor status to be determined: 2,106

• Daimler: 6
• Jaguar: 2,136

• Double Six: 2
• Majestic (Vanden Plas) SWB (USA Import): 1
• Sovereign: 724
• Vanden Plas: 962
• XJ12: 87
• XJ6 (base): 362

• 3.6: 10
• 4.0: 2,043
