11th April 2026 was the aim and we missed it by days due to engine issues.

The Triplex Capri was built by David Sutton on behalf of Ford for Colin Vandervell and sponsored by Triplex Safety Glass, she missed the first round of the season due to not being ready and history had set to repeat itself as we battled other commitments and the clock to get her done for what would have been 50 years to the day since her first race. She debuted at Silverstone on 11th April 1976 for her first ever race qualifying 3rd and finishing 12th.

We were set to repeat this as we missed the first round of the season but aimed for Cadwell Park with the CTCRC on the 11th April 2026. Sadly engine troubles battled us along the way and with all the set backs sadly the time ticked away and the weekend came as we were still in the workshop.

We were upset we couldn’t celebrate her 50 years in racing at the track but we carried on.

Important post about something really cool, so this goes back a fair few years. I have a red jacket in the spare room and this jacket means a lot to me. My dad bought a Marlboro team jacket when he was in his teens in the 1970’s, as he went to race meetings and various other places over the years he collected many patches which his mom sewed onto the jacket and as time went on it became full almost telling a story of its own across his teens and 20’s and 30’s.

I have always loved this jacket and to me it’s so personalised it’s just dad’s jacket and there is nothing like it. Then this created an issue as I really wanted to wear it as I started racing but didn’t want to ruin it.

So I started looking into what jacket it was as I didn’t know it was a Marlboro jacket at the time and struggled to find one. I spent ages looking and searching but nothing came up as a winner.

Then is was Christmas 2025 and my girlfriend handed me a large soft present. I had no idea what it was and as I opened it I couldn’t believe it a bright red nylon jacket with a 1970’s thick white zip. She had managed to find what jacket it was, Find one in my size and buy one. Absolutely incredible I was overwhelmed but then as I pulled the jacket from the paper it was more than just a jacket. She had spent the last 6 months not only hunting for the jacket but hunting for every single patch.

Which were all sewed on by her hand in the exact same position as dad’s jacket. Faults and wonkiness and all were spot on. Even copying my grandma’s sewing technique on each different patch.

It was incredibly emotional and it’s perfect. She found as many original patches as she could from all over the world on eBay/Vinted/FB and any she couldn’t get she had made. An absolutely amazing effort and I couldn’t have done it better and I am so thankful to have someone so thoughtful, kind and talented in my life. So thank you Terri Mayne and I love you.

2025 over and out.

It’s been a makeshift year after moving premises and falling on my arse during the building of the new one 🤣.

Buying one of my dream cars 🤩, enjoying my Aprilia when she worked 🇮🇹. Developing and racing my V8 A30 and of course taking her maiden overall victory at Snetterton which was hard fought for 🏆.

Making huge strides with getting her ever closer to returning to the track in 2026. Getting the car painted was magnificent. To see her in Blue and white again after nearly 50 years was emotional.

Going to many race meetings seeing old friends and making new ones 🏁 celebrating the life of since his passing 🖤

Gladly getting the A30 on display at as well as helping to write articles about the A30 and the Capri in various magazines and teaming up with as a partner for The Triplex Capri in 2026

Then towards the end of the year it was Christmas like it is every year but this one I got a very special gift from il do a post about this on its own as it’s deserves it.

Then we got recently purchased BMW E30 ready for her first ever race at Mallory on Boxing Day and after she was took out on the first lap we got it ready all over again and got out for the last race 🏁🏁🏁

Before ending the year with seeing family and friends and picking and engine up on the journey 😁.

2026 is going to be incredible ❤️🏁
