1972 CB450 desert sled-ish. I know the word desert sled is watered down lately, and is normally more associated with triumph. But it was Bud Ekins riding a Honda CL72 that tackled the Baja desert and led to the creation of the Baja 1000 race of today. I’d like to have another go building one of these iconic twin cylinders, I’m sure there’s more desert sled left in there. This one was a week long build, in the usual rush to have something to ride at Malle beach race and the Malle mile. I think a wider seat, front mudguard, softer forks, sump guard and more ground clearance and it would be pretty close to ideal for me. The mexican blanket seat cover was the only option in such a short time frame, seemed quite fitting though 🇲🇽🌮🌯

First Yamaha XT500 I did was full of nasty surprises. Water seized engine, wheels bent and rotten spokes, tank dented up, loads missing. Full engine rebuild, wheels rebuilt, everything reconditioned, stainless exhaust made. Sadly didn’t get round to painting the tank, but once the dents were pushed out I liked the original 76 paint 🙌🏻 need to put some time into my TT500, same again I reckon!
