We are looking forward to welcoming you all this weekend for Nitro X Cross Summer series rounds 5 and 6.

Access to the club will be from 12pm (midday) on Friday 5th June.

A £15 weekend camping fee is payable via PayPal or cash or card. Pre-booking is advised to ensure we don’t have to chase people up for payment.
[email protected]

Able2Cater will be with us from Friday evening providing their usual top quality hot and cold food. Please support them as you normally do.

Drinking water is available from 2 taps on-site, one by the ladies toilets and one in the field.

The skip is for club use only, we have plenty of bin bags so please take your rubbish home with you.

Now to the most important bit:

The field behind the track is currently out of bounds for vehicles. We don't rent this field; our landlord kindly allows us to use it free of charge when we have larger meetings, but they have stipulated no vehicles are permitted.

This does mean we need to be sensible about how we use the hard standing car park as space will be very limited.

We need to prioritise motorhomes, camper vans and caravans on here. Then parking for other vehicles.

So please setup your gazebos in the adjacent field rather than in the car park.
Please see the map below for the general layout.

Please park sensibly and allow a gap up to the rostrum and through the gate for emergency vehicle access if possible.

This might not be achievable this weekend, but we are duty bound to enable free access to the emergency services into the club should the need arise.

There will be Nene members on hand to assist with parking etc.; please be patient as we are all trying to do our best to ensure everyone has a safe and enjoyable weekend.

Thanks in advance on behalf of everyone at “the Nene”.

Thanks to those who gave up their time yesterday especially Andy Lines who helped sort through and tidy loads of Astro turf.

Thanks to Darren Smith for operating the digger and making the car park look 👌.

In anticipation for us hosting Nitro X Cross next week, we've had a good clear up this weekend and made some much needed additional space in our car park.

We've put more speakers put up, including a wireless connection into the field. So there should be no excuse to be missing your heat or Sue telling you should be marshalling! 🤭

I'll put a post out tomorrow with details on parking and pitting etc. for the weekend.

Thanks again everyone for your support.
Dan Doleman
Nene Chairman.

The track will be open for practice tomorrow from 9am.
We will still be working trackside on the fencing, so please lend a hand if you can spare some time, maybe whilst your batteries are charging. 🤔

This weekend we have a work party scheduled where the priority is putting the new fencing up around the track and having a good clear up to maximise space for the forthcoming Nitro-x meeting.

If you can spare a bit of time on Saturday we hope to complete the bulk of the work then. We have hired a digger in for the weekend so want to make full use of that.

The track will only be open for practice on Sunday if we get all hands on deck and the work completed on Saturday.

A few of us are heading up to the Nene this evening from about 4.30pm to get a head start before the weekend.

As previously said, any help you can provide will be appreciated; we'll ensure any volunteers are suitably fed and watered.

Summer Series Round 2 race report by Lee Baldry:

Yesterday, Sunday 24th May, the Nene ran Round 2 of our Summer Series; attended by a well-stacked field of Nitro and Ebuggy racers. The sun was out in force and the track was in great shape, thanks as always to the Nene Team. Some unavoidable Committee shortages meant some new faces in race control learning the system; with a few bumps in the road ironed as we went along. Nothing stops the Nene Team and thanks again for everyone's patience.

Quick out of the box in Qualifying was our very own Leigh Bond in Ebuggy (Tekno), with a number of racers kindly lending their cars to newbies to try their hand at giving him a run for his money! Leigh was chased hard throughout qualifying by Jason Hornby (Kyosho) and Joshua Stuckey (Agama), making for a fantastic two-legged final in prospect: Joshua taking eventual pole position.

Nitro saw Lee Baldry (Agama) take an unexpected pole spot, to be chased by Paul Driver (LSOR) and a slightly unlucky Mark Higgins (WIRC), who found a few issues impacting his usual pace.

The 27deg C temperature saw a few worried faces around overheating risk in the finals: but the barbeques, drinks and atmosphere helped allay this! Out of the gate Leigh Bond again demonstrated his pace, winning EBuggy Leg 1 by 12s from a hard-charging Jason Hornby. Paul Markham (Agama) having an excellent run to come from behind and close to within 4s and Joshua unlucky to suffer a car problem.

Leg 2 Ebuggy saw Joshua Stuckey return to form, taking a dominant win from Leigh and Jason. Overall combined results and Leigh come out on top, with well-deserved podiums for Jason and Joshua. Great racing throughout the field!

In nitro, Mark Higgins got a blinding opening lap to seize the initiative from polesitter Lee, and rapidly set about consolidating his lead. Sadly it wasn't to be, as electrical gremlins stopped his charge in the second stint. Bad lucky Wiggsy! From there on, Lee and Paul diced it out, with Lee eventually building a small lead. Sadly Paul also ran into issues, leaving Lee to complete the final stint largely unchallenged. However the eventfulness continued; with Lee running out of fuel just 10m past the finishing line, to take the win!

Congratulations to all racers, and thanks once again for supporting the Nene.

Next weekend we'll be having a work party so if you can lend a hand we are planning on putting up some new fencing, general track repairs, weeding and painting - the usual type of stuff!

This is all in preparation for Nitro X Cross visiting us 6th and 7th June for the next two rounds of their ever-popular Summer Series. Few places might still left so head on over to their website to snap them up; in what promises to be yet more great racing at the Nene!
