Posted with permission: one of my learners gave me this on our last lesson today, and it has honestly made my week. Thank you so much to my learner who put the effort into drawing such a lovely picture of my Maggie. It has been a true pleasure watching you develop and grow as a driver.

Your ability to self-reflect is admirable, and it’s one of the qualities that will make you an absolute cracking driver. I truly wish you all the best as you go forward. Remember to believe in yourself and your abilities - it will take you further than you think. ❤️ Stay safe!

Happy Pass Day to Ellie, who despite being in a completely unfamiliar area, made sure she was going home with a pass today 🚘🥳

I’m always happy for my learners when they pass, but this one feels especially nostalgic, as Ellie came to me before I even started Wheel Wise Driving School. It’s been such a pleasure teaching you, and honestly, I feel like you’ve taught me so much too. You were patient and willing to learn despite me being a completely fresh instructor, and when I got things wrong, you weren’t afraid to tell me and help me adapt. I can’t tell you how much I appreciate that - and the trust you placed in me throughout the whole process. I’m so proud of the safe driver you’ve become, and even more proud that I got to watch you succeed today 🥰

I asked Ellie what tips she would give to someone learning to drive:

If I could give one piece of advice to anyone learning to drive or preparing for their test, it would be this: talk. Talk the whole time. Say you’re reducing your speed because of a tight corner. Say you’re moving into second gear. Say what hazards you’ve spotted and what you’re planning to do next. It feels silly at first, but I promise it makes you a better driver. It helps you think ahead, build good habits and develop the awareness needed to drive safely.

And what getting her driving licence means for her:

Learning to drive will change my family’s life forever. I can now help my mother get around, and opportunities that once felt out of reach are suddenly possible. I’m no longer limited by where public transport can take me or tied to one area. The freedom and independence that driving brings is something I will always be grateful to Emma for helping me achieve.

Stay safe out there, you will smash it!

Nothing feels better than seeing your learners reach a goal and grow as drivers ❤️ Now I just need to practice containing my excitement 😅
