Its that time again to get behind the team, for the Bedford Borough Council Bi-annual River Festival 2026, with the Bedford Raft Race. Its always a great family day out, full of fun, but also a great opportunity to raise awareness and funds for the local charities supporting our communities.
This year, we have decided to raise funds for Ben Automotive Charity, supporting mental health across the automotive industry.

🚣‍♀️ UK Truck & Plant is back… and we're chasing a hat-trick!

We're incredibly proud to be taking part in the 2026 Bedford River Festival Raft Race, and this year we're on a mission...

🏆 To retain our "Best Dressed Raft" title for the third River Festival in a row!

Over the past two festivals we've had an amazing time building some outrageous rafts, raising plenty of smiles, and bringing a little healthy competition to one of Bedford's biggest community events. The Bedford River Festival attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors over the weekend, making it one of the UK's largest free outdoor festivals, with the famous Raft Race being one of its biggest highlights.

But while we'll be dressing up, paddling hard and (hopefully!) keeping our crown, there's a much more important reason we're taking to the water.

This year we're proudly raising money for BEN – the automotive industry's charity, supporting people across our industry with mental health, wellbeing, financial assistance and life-changing support when they need it most.

The automotive and transport industry is built on hardworking, resilient people—but even the strongest of us sometimes need help. BEN is there every day, providing confidential support for automotive professionals and their families.

If you've enjoyed seeing our raft builds over the years, laughed at our costumes, or simply want to support a fantastic cause that looks after the people who keep Britain moving, we'd be incredibly grateful for your donation.

Every pound makes a difference.

❤️ Please donate what you can, share our page, and come along to cheer us on as we attempt to make it three "Best Dressed Raft" wins in a row!

From all of us at UK Truck & Plant...

Thank you for helping us support BEN and the amazing work they do.

Fleet downtime costs more than you think.

A Bedford logistics company came to us with a problem: their fleet was spending too much time off the road waiting for repairs.

Here's what we found:
• Preventable breakdowns (worn brakes, fluid leaks) were sidelining 2-3 vehicles weekly
• Compliance gaps meant MOT failures eating into schedules
• No real-time visibility into vehicle health

Our solution: Proactive maintenance schedule + digital compliance dashboard + 24/7 mobile support.

Result: 40% reduction in unplanned downtime, zero compliance failures, predictable maintenance costs.

That's the difference between reactive repairs and strategic fleet management.

If your fleet is struggling with downtime, let's talk. Message me for a no-obligation fleet health review. 🚛

Motorhome breakdowns rarely give you a warning.

What’s hiding under your Swift Kon-tiki? Most faults start small. Our DVSA-accredited team checks what others miss: suspension, brakes, hidden corrosion. See the difference a real inspection makes.

Want clarity on your motorhome’s health? Let’s talk. 🛠️

Fleet downtime. One hidden hose nearly cost thousands.

Customer said their Swift Kon-tiki was losing power. We found a cracked turbo hose on inspection. Quick swap. Full digital check. Back on the road by lunch.

How much could a missed fault cost your fleet?

Let’s keep your vehicles moving. Message for a compliance check.

**Motorhome turbo failure signs – what to stop doing immediately.**

If your motorhome turbo's on its way out, you'll notice these signs:

• Loss of power going uphill
• Black smoke from the exhaust
• Whining or grinding noise from the engine bay
• Higher fuel consumption

The problem: Most motorhome owners push their vehicles hard – long trips, heavy loads, constant acceleration. Turbos hate that.

What kills a turbo fastest:
1. Cold starts + immediate hard acceleration
2. Towing heavy loads uphill
3. Ignoring oil changes
4. Cheap fuel

The fix: Let it warm up. Drive smoothly. Change your oil every 5,000 miles. Use quality fuel.

A turbo replacement is £1,500-2,500. Prevention costs you nothing but patience.

Comment TURBO if you've had turbo trouble – I'll share our motorhome turbo care guide.
