UK Driving Skills

UK Driving Skills We produce books for learner drivers and offer online theory test & hazard perception training.

Don has spent most of his life working in the driver training and testing industry. He began as a driving instructor way back in 1984 working for a local driving school, before retraining under the British School of Motoring, and eventually going on to run his own business. Not content to stay at that level, he became a member of the Institute of Advanced Motorists, passed the RoSPA police driving

test at gold standard; and began to train company car drivers for the advanced tests. Don then went on to become a driving examiner, a job which he did for many years before leaving to branch out on his own once again. He now spends most of his time writing, using his extensive experience at all levels of driver training and testing to produce a series of books which will hopefully help him to pass on some of that knowledge to you. Don has his own website at www.ukdrivingskills.co.uk

When he has spare time he also likes to cook, but is not yet planning on launching any recipe books!

A recent report analysed figures obtained from The Office for National Statistics from April 2023 to March 2024. This showed that almost two thirds of car thefts involved vehicles using remote locking keys.

Remote keyless entry systems are a security risk for a number of reasons. Manufacturers are using modern tech, but thieves are catching up.

As a driver, are you aware of the Highway Code rules for cyclists?

In 2022, the DVSA published a new version of the Highway Code, including a new set of rules for cyclists. The new ‘Hierarchy of Road Users’ was set out in order to protect the most vulnerable of road users. Some of the new rules were controversial, and many drivers have admitted in a recent survey that they are still not clear on what those rules are.

In 2022, Highway Code rules for cyclists were changed to give them greater protection. As a driver, are you aware of what those rules are?
